Kata

Embedded image from another site

I am a warrior
standing firmly planted
my concentration strong
like iron chains to the ground...

I inhale prepared to fight
my kata has begun
a private dance
one movement blends to the next..

My intense gaze meets
my imaginary opponent
like an invisible katana blade
much like ripples in a pond...

Chinese based moves act
a loud "kiah" erupts
in the large dojo
my declaration of purpose...

Control, form and balance
my task ends
the kata complete
I step back into the modern world...

I'm a karate man myself Ken. Love your description
of this fascinating art Kenpo. I loved that movie
called, 'The perfect weapon.' Good and fun work.

Thank you Cafe..I trained in Tae kwon Do as a kid, then was fortunate enough to later train in the Ed Parker system of American Kenpo..I still practice Kenpo at my gym..Yes Jeff Speakman in "The Perfect Weapon" was awesome! He was personally trained by Ed Parker..

Ken...thumbs up .....I practiced Wing Chung and Tai Chi as a youth. Now I concentrate on Wing Chung with certain very effect moves from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. ...I am not in a Dojo at the moment but will probably be very soon. I'm a huge fan of all styles. I am particularly impressed with modern Kia from Japan that obviously originated in China. I am constantly watching old and new martial arts movies...some of the old ones from the Shaw brothers are the very best as far as footwork goes, but I love the new ones even better because of the production quality. My next Hong Kong release that I cannot wait to come out is "Rise of the Legend".....that is gonna be a seriously sick movie.......cheers

Thank you Christian..We both share similar styles..I'v had some MMA training as well but still have a passion for American Kenpo..One must have a knowledge of ground fighting to be complete however as I agree..Ed Parker and Bruce Lee were in my opinion the premiere martial artists of the 20th century..Gracie Jiu Jitsu is awesome too!

It's a discipline that makes the mind soothed through the body releasing all the toxins as it creates those strong yet very controlled movement my brother.

Great write. I was a brown belter because my brother was a black belter. I was always inspired for the strength it builds in your system..
