If Only It Could Begin With A Fight

If only it could begin with a fight
then we'd have nowhere to go but up

Instead of beginning at the top
and then removing points for imperfections
as they are uncovered one by one,
we would find our way out of a conundrum together
and have the tale of our survival, and good graces,
to tell forevermore.

Ideas aside, was I supposed to capitalize all the words of the title or not? Wish I knew!

I love this!!
I thought I might be the only one to think this way- in a similar way at least.

I told my husband-to-be(now husband), after we'd had our 1st argument, that if it hadn't happened, I would have purposely said something to cause one.
-Because then you both get to see a different side of each other, and also how you both handle disagreements.

I later came across an article on relationships saying a new couple typically takes 5 or 6 months after meeting to get through the superficial stuff, along with deeper things they both agree on, before coming to a real conflict. It went on to describe how a mature person handles conflict.

And I was happy to see, that my husband to be(I rhymed!!lol) had handled it exactly that way- sure was a contrast to how my ex handled things for the 29 yrs. I was previously married.

I suppose b/c of those experiences, I would have to agree w/the article re it generally takes a couple of years to know someone well enough to determine if the two would be compatible and have a good chance at success.

Great poem! What a way you have with ideas & words-so unique-just love it! (The title - in CAPS - either way... it obviously caught my attentionlaugh)

Hi, fugitive432,
...then we'd have nowhere to go but up... Well, that's a unique and positive way to look at it. I particularly like the tale of our survival. Thanks for sharing.
P.S.
This site will make the capitalization decision for you: If, however, you want more info, you can check out one set of rules here:

Both of you, I don't gamble because I don't like to loose, but what grace from the heavens to give me the feeling I just got finding you both here. Triple sevens, twice! teddybear cheers
I don't know why but when I write a poem it's like I'm in the dark and seeing, and when someone else sees what i saw too, then it brings me out into the real, or what I suppose feels like real (cuz humbly I think we have to say, whose to say what real is?...Though confidently I say this is real to me!)
Anyway, lots of love hug

Aww... thank you! So nice to know(and yes, lots of things around are prob. not real- lot of hidden... but then there's our own 'real'... but I do think it's real- I believe I'm real-what I experience is real... and think you're real- well, we could both be wrong... but I don't think so-lol).
Don't know if that made sense to you(don't worry if it didn't-b/c I tend to be that way quite often - in fact I misinterpret quite often... I find out by my own mind processing everything a day or two later, or by someone else coming along to clear it up- in this case gnj4u- capitalization- by her comment, I re-read what you wrote, and see that I got it wrong- thought you meant maybe you should have put all in CAPS to make a bigger impact- but you were speaking grammatically- I think.)

-If it were the title of a book- then usually words like 'a' 'with' 'the' are not capitalized, unless they are the first word - The Old Man and the Sea or Cooking with Love... however, in poetry the rules are more lax. Not only that, to make things more confusing, there is a book out called 'cooking with love'. It would appear you can still be correct by using all lowercase, or all uppercase, for the 1st letter of each word, just as you've done.

The references from Joy would be of much greater use to you and far more comprehensive than my little bit.

(I only wanted to add my bit, so I could say, professor out of the grammatically correct ways to have titled it, I think you picked one of the correct ones... and I think in this case, your choice goes best with your poem... and looks better to the eye - yay - imo anyway)

Aw ! and you are so funny thumbs up -- Well you know I can explain that I chose the capitalization that I did because I felt bad for the little words, like it didn't feel democratic to not give them upper casing too... aren't I weird haha. I'm silly silly silly.
But now I have bookmarked the capitalization program mentioned above and likely won't be acting silly that way any more... end of an era. so sad crying boohoo. will have to find other ways to be silly (then again, I think there are an infinite number of ways left with which to do that) grin
