A New Poet
They come in not sure of their welcome
post their words with trepidation
scared maybe of being ignored or mocked
not sure even if they can write at all.
You all know this feeling
once too you were new
if lucky someone held out a hand
gathered you under their wing.
Gave you lots of encouragement
by reading and commenting kindly
Happily you replied and learnt
and you too now welcome the new poets.
Carrying on the tradition
for to greet and comment
brings hope to faint hearted
so as you post remember this.
You were once new and unsure
so hold out your hand in friendship
comment on other's poems
and they in turn will respond.

About this poem:
I have noticed that many poets get no comments at all.in most sites there are dedicated greeters that welcome new poets
Please remember that you were once new and encourage others.
As for the new poet you too should comment on others
By doing so you will make new friends and be encouraged
And yes even inspired by their works so breathe a little life
into this site all it needs is some care and respect for others.

I echo your sentiments.
I have written and posted a piece with a similar message, titled
"To New Poetry Corner Poets".
I have commented on the work of some new poets.
However, I think it is important for them to comment on the work of other poets also, both old and new, on the site, despite their trepidation, which is understandable, as you have mentioned. This may encourage those other poets to comment on their work, in return. We can all learn from each other.
In the said poem, I wrote:
All new poets, you are extremely free
To comment on other members' poetry
Once it is carried out respectfully
To maintain the corner's integrity
All of us can learn from one another
Senior poets have their unique flavour
New poets bring fresh views to the corner
And make the poetry selection wider
In "About this poem", I wrote:
"Focus on the quality of your poetry
And continue to improve it with each write
Through your sustained effort and tenacity
Your true poetic talent will come to light"
ty again for all you do hugs
Love you lots
It is always with us
