Separation Syndrome

Feeling lonely without you by my side.
Heart skips a beat, seems like frozen time.
Every minute minus you, just doesn't seem right.
Day and night, us together, you and I.
Lovely are your eyes, I knew true love....
As soon as I met you and your warm inviting hug.
Holding out your arms expecting something in return.
Solace in our hearts, Starbucks was where we were.
It may have been cold on that wintery day we met.
But that heat from your love scorched all regret.
A rose by many names happened to be your first.
Couldn't believe my ears your first was your best and worst.
But continuing on we talked all about Kurt.
Amazed my favourites were yours, the same I learned.
I knew kisses were definitely on our minds.
Unfortunately, good guys are hard to find.
Fortunately for you, a good guy is what you got.
Sitting here wishing for more of you multiplied by a lot.
That thing in your chest you call your heart, I call my home.
Sitting here, wishing for more, separation syndrome.

About this poem:
I wrote a lot of poems for past GFs and finally got married a few years back. I was going through all my poems one day and realized I stopped writing just before I met my wife. So I decided to write this one for her. Unfortunately, we separated last May, but the feelings are still present in this poem as well as the rest I wrote. Hope you enjoy this simple poem.
