Barbed Wire Heart

These wounds are deep inside me.
There is nothing you can see.
It's all internal bleeding,
That will be the death of me.

You've got my heart in wires
With barbs embedded deep.
A cut for everything you've said,
And one for every deed.

Yet the more I fight, the worse it gets,
My struggles are in vain.
You cannot see my suffering,
or feel this twisting pain.

Another strand, another barb
Another wound for me.
While you go on, unaware,
Living so blissfully.

About this poem:
Nothing worse than a toxic relationship.
Old wounds take so long to heal.

Steel barbed-wires are certainly sticky like silk webs....a good expression of your pain.

Bad relationships can leave deep wounds that take a long time (sometimes never) to heal. Take care.
