Be careful of what you ask for...

God’s Wisdom is like nothing else that man has ever known and certainly His Brilliance, for us has set the tone.
Great is my angst and wonderment when after prayer
I wait, to see what my dear God decides should truly be my fate.

My God knows how to make a joke, and enjoys every bit
Of humour that He gets when He makes use of His great wit.
I asked for patience and I hoped that all would soon be well,
But lo! The challenges God sent made me feel I’d gone to hell.

Should I not know the tests He gives are how He answers prayer,
Yet how could I learn patience well, if not by trial and error?
I asked the Lord to bless me with more work to earn more pay.
For I had many things to buy, and to pay for everyday;
And once again He sent my way a chore to undertake –
The bounty that He blessed me with was not for my own sake.
For He wanted me to know that when He blesses me with same
It’s for me to share with others, and to glorify His name.

So when you pray and ask the Lord be careful what it’s for;
Don’t think He hasn’t heard your call, if troubles you endure.
And you wonder what He’s doing, when you’re faced with more distress -
Just be careful what you ask for, ‘cause there just might be a test.

About this poem:
God's own Will for us always supersedes what we want for ourselves, so we need to be mindful of that when we ask, and wait, for His response.??

"but does he really have a sense of humour .....i wonder"

Well, based on what the Bible says, as well as some of the things that I've seen in this life so far, "Yes, He does".smile
