Both sides of anything; be it a war, an opinion, or a general dispute... Can be destructive...uncaring...confused... The wrong words are often spoken, in the heat of anger when push comes to shove, lifelong ties can be broken Promises are often forgotten amidst destruction Emotions change...from joy to anger From anger to bitterness From bitterness to remorse Left behind in the wake of it all are the inevitable scars The scars that are not only visible upon the skin... But the scars hidden deep within the mind and soul After all is said and done... The right words are spoken In the chilled air, bringing no comfort. It may last weeks It might take months It may last years It may take several generations for it all to come clear So both sides can warm up, thaw out, and slowly start to heal.

About this poem:
I wrote this poem after I saw the movie Cold Mountain. It moved me to tears so I had to express the way it made me feel.

Yes, until addressed, scars...not only visible upon the skin...But...hidden deep drive our worlds.
