What an interesting fight on the weekend James Toney versus Couture Who would of thought that it would happen? Naturally you would think the boxer has more power However the skill and use of martial arts belongs to the MMA person As it was shown on tv the boxer went down rather quickly couture went to the mat he took the boxer down and started punching him at random Interesting strategy the Boxer bragged about his victories However the boxer was not ready for this match After three minutes into the first round Couture had applied the choke hold on Toney the match was over

About this poem:
sometimes interesting sports develope and the game goes on what and unusual turn of events good to view all the best
The guy is a legend and a hero of mine. He represents himself and the sport well. He has been called too old for 15 years and since than has won 5 belts, 3 in heavy weight and 2 in light heavy weight divisions. He is not only an example of what pure dedication can do, but has done so with humility and with his back against the wall his entire carrier. This fight is small compared to his many achievements, but might be what he will be remembered for, and that is a shame. I have met the guy and he is as nice of a guy off camera as he is on. Just a guy doing what he loves.

Do you think a professional wrestler( not a fake wrestler) can beat a boxer? how about a sumo wrestler versus a boxer!
LOL, allot of these questions were answered in the beginning stages of the UFC. Everyone came in representing a style, the idea was to find which worked the best. People in styles with a grappling background pretty much dominated those with purely striking backgrounds.
Also, some people had a head start as Shoto began in 1985, several years before the ufc and Vale tudo (no rules fighting) had gone on in Brazil for 65 years. UFC was made by the Gracie family to show the rest of the world what they already knew.
What happened was strikers started to adapt and learn more about the ground game, and the first signs of what is now a mixed martial artist was being born. Wrestlers that could not defend submission holds started working on their stand up fighting and use their wrestling to stay off the mat, sub fighters in turn had to learn to strike if they could not get the wrestler to the mat. Everybody learned pretty quick that one form was not going to cut it.
But all in all, allot depends on just the athlete. When I talk about the styles I am referring to top level guy of similar size and strength and speed. There are tons of variables. Even game plan is a factor. It really is an incredibly complicated sport.
A boxer against an MMA contender would be like trying to drive a dragster through a forest. It does one thing, it does it well, but it is only meant for one kind of setting.
An interesting thought, I wouldn't have expect to see here.
