I saw an article on the news today about girls and women from Indonesia who were abused in Saudi Arabia. they go there for work.
one woman was beheaded last week on charge of murdering her boss.

surely a european girl can find a decent job here in euorope making an honest living. what baffles me is that although they know about the situation , they choose to go to places like dubai and kuwait to make huge money pleasing the sheiks.

Based on their attitudes and treatment of their own women then I wouldn't hold out much hope for these men to treat outsider women any better then their own.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Read about the criminality around the world, including Western countries and then pass judgements. I do not think you can talk about places you have not visited. Besides, when you go to other countries without speaking the language, verifying the papers you sign (though a lot don't even sign any, but believe in words), the employer and the place you are going to, you are assuming big risks and should be aware of it. And this goes for any part of the world.

I heard stories about Islamic embassies here in the Netherlands, that don't treat their (islamic) Indonesian employees well.
sad isn't it?
when two countries know this is happening between citizens of their own country and don't do anything about it, because of diplomatic reasons?
I know because one of the Indonesian employees went to the police and report...but the Netherlands couldn't do anything else then ask the ambassodor what was happening...
he denied everything off course....and Indonesia did nothing about it.
it was in the newspapers here, a few months ago....
people read it...shake their heads....and live on...forgetting about all these people living in certain circumstances..

Here UAE have become a popular touristic destination, and noone complained .. of course you should keep in mind that you are going to a muslim country, so no need to provoke with bright make-up and short dresses.Treat people with respect and they will treat you in the same way. Also here there is a special working program for girls who want to work there in hotels and Duty free shops, some of my friends work there, get a promised salary and normal working conditions. The mentality is different from a western one, for sure, but different doesn't mean good or bad.. Also I agree that before making such agressive statements, it is better to visit the place yourself.

There are numerous reports of abuse of foreign womn an the arabic countries in the Gulf..
I just wonder what do these girls do in such dangerous places as Dubai , Quatar, Kuwait, etc..
A friend of mine working in Kuwait as a nurse, told me, estern girl are initially attracted by promise of bg salaries. well at the time of mass unemployment i EU, this may sound normal to begin me.\
but, my friend goes on explaining: these girl are gradually dragged into prostitution..not the western style. They are invited to work in oil rich wealthy sheiks, and dazzled by jewlery and promise of better lives. a house, swimming pool, luxury, private gyms, flashy cars.
but this is only the begining..girls end up in harems, where the wealth shake keeps his concunins., and according to their laws, the woman must attend all his needs. no matter what they are, or be beaten
