basic is all you need when your on the piss haha.. imagine going out in cork weekend after weekend and constantly talking to girls with the real strong cork accent, now thats torture
My fave place is Crane Lane, two bars, live music in one, disc jockey in the other and one of the nicest smoking areas anywhere (for those that smoke). Two lots of toilets, one lot in the front and one lot at the back. Only thing is, it's always packed. Not sure if they would reserve an area for us.

Crane Lane is a good pub alright, but unless you get in there fairly early it's going to be mobbed, and you want have much of a chance of getting seating together.
Solution could be a quieter pub, like the Slate or something where we could be guaranteed seats, and once we get to know each other a little better we could all wander on elsewhere.
That being said, I'm easy and will happily go wherever you lot want to.

killarneyman: Hey folks, I'm seeing pretty regular Donegal and Dublin meets going on here, but very little down in the real capital.
I'm not thinking of anything too major, just a bunch of regulars from here meeting up for a few jars. If we can arrange a nice even mix of guys and girls, all the better, but worse comes to worse we could have a few beers and a bit of craic anyway.
hey kilarney great idea as havent been out since april so need a good night out now at this stage... the grafton is a super place to meet up.. plenty of room and no need to book if we all arrive early... and for those who need a bed for the night i can accomodate! im living in douglas so only 2 miles form town.. so bring it on
LadyBlackAdder: It can happen like that. If you want a huge party, there is no guarantee. I have to say I have always enjoyed the meets I have gone to, even the smaller ones; you get to know people better.
The only one I didn't enjoy was my first Dublin one. All the rest were great craic.
It depends on what your expectations are and how you relate to people I reckon.
Right we need a venue and a start up time so I can create a signup sheet.
Choices that pop into my head are:
The Slate: It's on the Grand Parade, so pretty easy to find, and it's very quiet at the start of the night so it would be a good place to meet each other and have a chat before moving on to some place later. Disadvantages are it's a bit of a rocker pub, which not everyone may appreciate.
SoHo: Easy to find, trendy modern pub, they do food there too, gets packed though.
Crane Lane: Possibly a bit difficult to find for non corkonians, it's quite small and will be jammers later in the night, but it should be pretty easy to find a table. Nightclub out the back
Any other suggestions or comments? I can arrange a table to be set aside, but assuming we are meeting up early enough, I can't see it being a problem to be honest. Most of these places don't get packed till 10 or later.
killarneyman: skyblue: I don't know how, I'm a newbie =)
cheriobaby: Douglas? Me too, we might be neighbors =P
well killarneyman we could be neighbours!!!! its a big village tho so maybe ships in the night... hopefully this meet up will go ahead as looking forward to meeting new friends.... venues you suggested all sound good... another good place is the hub... never been but heard its a great meeting place

killarneyman: Sober lane works for me too, nice pub, nice food.

Theres also a few pubs around there on that street we could move around if people wanted to but if the night was good sober lane is big enough to stay in !!!!

Well you're right about it being off Patrick Street, it's way off. You have to go up the Grand Parade and cross the south gate bridge.
Millieh24: Ooooooopppppsssss... i have been there before a upl of times but im not very good with directions ....
Ha you're grand Millie, neither am I, just that there are so many side streets off PANA that people could easily get lost if you didn't mention that it was off the Grand Parade. I must admit when I saw your post I thought you were mixing it up with the Mutton Lane.
