Ok, as you can see I have a few tattoos. In work, bank business, no contact with customers, I am covering my arms completely, but I cant always cover the one on my chest. My regular work environment is used to it now grin But we had a few visitors over from US this week and I got a few bad looks. What do you think about tattoos in work or even in general? I do my job, and I am doing it very good! Why judging people for their looks?
What's your opinion?

it still amazes me that some people think if you have a tattoo you must be mindless thug or a layabout.
I still get looks when people notice mine and they would really need to be checking my out to see them unless I am wearing vests or that.

If your good at your job then who cares what you look like or whats on your body, if it was a birth mark would the give the same looks ??

Yep, thinking the same. But the people who came over from my company, from US, dont work with me in particular and I am only a teeny tiny person in the company itself. All of them were above 50. But still, we are living in a century who everybody should know that people who have tattoos or piercings are not just coming out of prison. But then again, you can still see, prejudices is still here. Anyway, I love my tattoos and the next will be at my body very soon! banana grin

It would not be normal in the hospitality industry for people to show tattoos and generally they are asked to be covered. I assume its about dealing with the public and what is perceived ou there and appearances are important.
Personally I don't care and would rate someone on their work and cleanliness laugh

I used to work as a nanny for about 2 years. Picked up the girls from school, dropped them to ballett class and all. The first few times I got very bad looks. But after a while, teachers and parents were all fine with me. Think people have to get you know you before they let down their prejudices. Still wondering what they were thinking in the first place? confused laugh

the reason some work places don't allow tattoos to be shown is mirrored by the results of the poll so far...

for me, i couldn't care less... i have a few tattoos and would NEVER let a job dictate how i dress or appear... (maybe that's why I'm a writer) rolling on the floor laughing

I honestly believe it partly depends on the tattoo. Some are not nearly as 'arty' as some would believe. conversing

I think where the tattoo is can make a difference too. JMO

I don't mind them in general myself - but I'm no fan of the 'handlebar' type on the back of women. Again - JMO!

Why do you put up a poll with also the no option if you then are surprised to get no answers? There really are a lot of different opinions out there...

I personally have seen two nice tattoos in my life ( I never studied yours closely Annie when I scared you in Drogheda so I can't say whether I liked them or not grin) and some impressive huge tattoos on maori men in New Zealand. It seemed to suit them but them only.

The question was about tattoos at work and my reply is no go.
What you have underneath your clothes is totally your own business but showing black ink prints on your skin in work is not appealing for my eyes. It has nothing to do with how good at work you are, it is purely an aesthetic issue.

If you had put up a poll claiming tattoos are disgusting on people, that olm would had fiercely defended them and called anybody not liking them narrowminded eejits or something similar.
He gets his daily feed from provoking people, there is really no need to feed him.

I am not surprised about the "no" answers! I'd just like to know why they think like it, nothing wrong with it me thinks. dunno
