And some times the only way to solve a problem is to get rid of certain men who call you fat and stupid, and ruin your life. Usually THAT person is the fat, stupid creep who is ruining your life. And the way to solve that problem is to lop that lard ball off and fry it until it explodes, then dump it in the garbage.

If I've learned my mistake the first time, yet Joe Shmo having made the same mistake hasn't learned from it yet, then yes, I'd consider myself smarter than that person. Then again, someone else will already know not to make the same mistake as I did.
As it stands, I know a lot of things, but I don't know a lot of other things. Does that make me smarter? To some degrees, yes. To other degrees, no!

Knowing this is a quote taken from a movie, still, I believe there is more that one can do than just to "solve the problem that's in front of you." Learning, knowing, avoidance and teaching... to name a few.
