galrads: Now that was well said. I don't see that happening here and I'm surprised if that exist there. Thanks for the clarification(s).
What's your opinion on outsourcing, if I may ask?
I ask because it's essentially the same as immigration. Outsourcing = less jobs, same amount of workers. Immigration = more workers, same amount of jobs.

Interesting way to look at the immigration issue. Hm. Outsourcing is undesirable but I think necessary at times. For instance, my friends who stayed at AT&T Bell Labs in Columbus, when I left to work at EPA, all lost their jobs which ended up being out-sourced to people primarily in India. It was a good thing because my friends got good severance pay before AT&T was divested of it's major monopoly years ago.
Regarding illegal immigrants in the u.s.a.... If we are talking about immigrants from Mexico, I think they should all receive some sort of amnesty. In my opinion, they provide more positive things for this country, like my immigrant family did, than most people born here with bad work attitudes.
I've seen the inexplainable animosity towards these people from South of the border and it is inexcusable. They are patronized, yet they continue and contribute to our society in positive ways. It's time we recognize this stupid insensitive attitude and put a stop to it.

Have the strange idea this thread turned into a pissing match, so I've not read it all yet.
But, the immigrants I'd prefer, are ones that can support themselves, and actually have something to contribute to the country, and I don't mean raising the crime rate figures.
Those that offer something to the country they've migrated to, and don't feel the need to take every single handout they can get their grubby mitts on, I have no problem with.
It's the ones that arrive at the ports, and demand this, that and the other, that I'd refuse to allow into the country. The government is too spineless to do anything about it, due to infringing their 'human rights'. Send them back to the last 'safe' country they passed through, if they're going to try and claim persecution if sent home.
galrads: huh? Heartless! My 8-month-old bull-terrier pup is 55 lbs. He's a Rescued dog and didn't come with any manners, let alone not being house broken yet. His #2 stuff is the size of bricks and very stinky and not especially desirable on carpet either! Sad here if you really find fault with my action with him.
lol just kidding with u!!!...I would never want an indoor dog!

Kidding ... sure, uh-huh, well, Augie is an indoor/outdoor doggie. He has his own bedroom so his snoring doesn't bother anyone. And he's a clown and a lover and always wants to be around his human family. He's a good guy. ok, ok looks like we won't be visiting the Alamo anytime soon.
TheThievingGypsy: Immigration increases the labour supply which reduces wages and working conditions. The working, lower-middle and middle class all ultimately lose out from immigration.
If there insufficient labour supply, economy will not be able to grow and be competitive. Too high wages will make exports uncompetitive and there will be little output to sell abroad if there are no sufficient labour. It is all a bit complicated when you are living in a global world like now. And then there is a minimum wage usually, so the wages are not fully dependent on labour supply. Here in Ireland wages certainly did not go down with increase of labour supply until the recession came.

And there are probably not enough migrants to affect this anyway. It just seems so, but if you see the numbers, they are not that great.
jovisst: Be seriuos now even though I included some alternitives for the fun of it.
another biased poll....immigrants built america...to single anyone out the way you did is disgraceful...if you want to give them special mention ok...but i think that the ones here are americans now becoz its about spirit for me not ethnicity,,,accept people for who they are not their color or culture...i cannot post your poll...becoz i find it offensive...i dont see color sorry...
leni0822: wow!..are this illegal immigrants do some brutal crimes in your country?..just curious your post seems like you have hatred with those illegal immigrants..
Well, you refer to Irish men's comment here. I live in Ireland I can can tell you that almost all crimes here are committed by Irish, except for some foreign workers' drunk fights between themselves, which sometimes end badly. Never heard about illegal migrants in Ireland, less about them committing crimes. I guess if they are here, they live quiet lives not to be sent away.

freesparrow: lmao...you do realize that those people you are talking about that fought for this country over 200 years ago actually did leave their native countries? Should they have stayed there (England/Spain/Ireland/wherever else they came from) to take care of their own business?????? Then the Native Americans would have been able to run this land the way they wanted, without the problems the Europeans brought with them.
Actually, you and sunnydaze both make good points! You know who's really to blame for the mess this world's in today? Adam and Eve...if they'd just been satisfied with banana's and left those dang apple's alone, we would'nt be in this situation. Good posts ladies.

TheThievingGypsy: By going rate you mean minimum wage. And yes, we have in recent years reduced much of our workforce to the minimum wage.
Nope. Mean the going rate which is about twelve to fourteen for wearing a paper hat and sixteen to twenty five for unskilled out door help. Minimum wage is a thing of the past here as nobody would get out of bed for that when the money is there to be had if one is willing to work.
Where do you get your misconceptions from anyhow? I pay my people twenty to start and if they can work, immediate raise to twenty five.
