jovisst: Be seriuos now even though I included some alternitives for the fun of it.
The ones we have are gold! They come here and work their tail off for a few years living ten to an apartment and then start up their own gig and get what they deserve. Wish we could get a million more of them to tell the truth as there's enough work here to last a few lifetimes and reliable employees are so hard to find that it boggles the mind.

So good to see this, my son is working in Canada and he really likes it there. Good to know that immigrants who are good workers are appreciated. As he said, most people there are originally from somewhere else anyway. The shoe is on the other foot now, we had good years here in Ireland when we had an influx of immigrants and they enriched society here and were appreciated and needed when there was plenty of work, now things have changed again and our young people are immigrating. Makes you realise , people are all the same.

As Australia is made of of immigrants except for the indigenous, of which they are relatively few..
I guess anyone who comes here with good heart, willingness to learn, appreciative of good values...
I am not God, I cant go picking and choosing.. We just hope that whoever comes shares good decent morals, and comes to be a part of this country's community, and not against us..

The good kind are those who enter legally, but, the best kind are those who realize how good their country is or could be if they did their part to make it so, and stayed there. Most immigrants come here because of the freedom this country offers. What they don't realize (..or don't want to), is they could have the same thing in their native country, if they did what we did here over 200 yrs ago...fight for it. They would be better off taking care of their own business, in their own country, rather than counting on other's to do it for them. When they come here, all they do is bring their problems with them or allow those problems to follow them here.
Sorry, but that is not possible for everyone. What you are a really good plumber, but the construction industry has died in your country through no fault of yours and you there is no longer any work for you? Everyone does not have the power to change a whole country, people have different skills and what is wrong with being able to move around to find work in your field where it is available?

I agree in part, but not the whole. If there is no work, you go where the work is. But as for change, once you realize a very few control the many, then if you want change bad enough, the many should band together. It's all in the numbers, pretty lady. What you are seeing in New York, London, Cairo etc. is people coming together and saying enough is enough.
I was an illegal immigrant for 4 years in Miami USA. I had enough money to buy a mobile home and got a job couple of weeks later restoring antique cars. During those years I felt like I conributed to the American dream. And I didn't become any burden to the goverment. I didn't pay tax ofcourse but the only thing I used was tarmac when I drove my car. I still curse my ex for wanting to go home to Sweden. So being an illegal immigrant in my view doesn't automaticly make you a bad person. Just someone who has to take extra care to be out of sight. Wich in it self is not a bad thing. Any North Bay Village people here?

I do understand the point you are making and agree to a certain extent. But many ordinary people are not interested in politics (I know they should be) and are not natural leaders but just want to work at what they are good at and make a reasonable life for themselves. Everybody cant be a born leader and organiser of people. If it is possible for them to move and work elsewhere, that is what they choose to do. However , if things get bad enough and they start to suffer, they will fight back and try to change things when there is no other option.

I am from Latvia and working in Ireland for 7 years now. However, I have difficulty with defining myself who I am. Immigrant or mobile labour? EU have free labour movement policy, so many came here because pay and conditions were and are better than in Latvia. But are we immigrants in this case? But that aside, immigrants are often working harder than indigenous workers to ensure their success in labour market. It is kind of stressful for the locals I think, but that is the point of free labour market - to rise competitiveness. So, it is a two sided coin, good for the economy, but bad for individual workers.
There is quite a few illegal immigrants over here and our hopeless government hasnt a clue where most of them are. And those they do deport ofton come back again because this place is seen as a soft mark. And as for the illegal Irish in other countries i say the exact same, kick them out.

A lot off Irish immigrants who left this Island worked hard and had to stay illegal ie could not return home because of there status. Immigrants who are here now under different alias do not work and are using the system in saying that there are a lot of genuine people here and are a benefit to the economy just my op.

lmao...you do realize that those people you are talking about that fought for this country over 200 years ago actually did leave their native countries? Should they have stayed there (England/Spain/Ireland/wherever else they came from) to take care of their own business?????? Then the Native Americans would have been able to run this land the way they wanted, without the problems the Europeans brought with them.
