absolutely laughter is incredibly good for you, and is also an indication of your state of mental health ,if you can laugh at yourself you are in good mental condition. this applies to countries too, believe it or not some cultures are so uptight they have to go to special groups and learn how to laugh.also there are pressure points in your face that release special chemicals that enhance your health. so yes, and if you stop the general public from laughing at their leaders for their buffoonery and arrogance you will end up with a nasty dictatorship or theocracy. good question Pedro

In a restaurant I "released special chemicals" so loudly I got disapproving looks for the duration

sharmini: "Every kind of people"...as the song says...what works for one may not work for another. I fully agree that spending your life in therapy over analysing past misfortune is useless.....and firmly believe in that old adage: "If you cant change the situation, change your attitude towards the situation." But I say again..some people get stuck...and what appears to be a lil speedbump to you, could be a mountain to soemone else. Cant compare or judge....as its not helpful. See "when youre falling, dive" by Mark Matousek
Yes, a speedbump can look like a mountain if you lie down and cry at it. It's pretty irresponsible of 'therapists' who can see this not to tell them to stand up but I guess they have to make a crust too.

you just dont get it, do ya?
Your perspective on your life, is how life is for you. And not all therapists are out to make a fast buck. Some therapy theories are crap, some are good. people find all kinds of ways to help them along their path.....comparing and judging others doesnt help...at all!
charliejapartee: if you hit an unexpected speed bump and some damage occurs because of it, you may become a hazard to others on their own journey, is it not better to know the 'vehicle' is damaged so that you may either help repair it or avoid it? a vehicle travelling along held together buy string and duct tape may cause serious fatalities or self destruct, as did a 50yr old house sitter of my neighbor. luckily he only hung himself in the stair well.
I can't argue with you there Charlie. If someone is seriously messed up they need some attention right away. I guess what I had in mind are the legions of long term whingers that keep the therapy racket going. People who have little to complain about because their life is fine so they play the victim and get great comfort from that.
