SOME people receiving government benefits are truly benefiting. They often drive glamorous vehicles, dress like movie stars and live in luxurious homes and they are cheating the system in the meantime.

Here in Ohio they have what is called a EBT card that people use instead of the paper food stamps.I don't see how they could sell their food stamps anyhow.

Pretty much all companies you apply to for WORK make you take a drug test, so certainly those that are receiving benefits without working (of which many of them could physically work but are lazy)should be made to do so.

Yes Ccincy, it was an EBT card. Here's how it works: The person selling the EBT (food stamps) gives you their personal ID number and the card while they wait outside. They will sell you $200 worth of EBT for $100. When you're done shopping you go outside and give the card back.

I have a relative who lives in Michigan and we had a lengthy discussion about welfare and she was telling me about how the Michigan Welfare system had brought in the Work First Program for abled bodied Adults who received welfare benefits or their cases would be closed.Well she said that as quick as that program began it was taken away.

lalasierra: Don't forget cheating on their taxes as well. BIG deductions there! Some people claim children who aren't even theirs nor do they support these kids and they don't even live with them! Nothing but a bunch of scammers!
When my son was in grade school I chose to be a parent volunteer and spent almost as much time in the school as the teachers.
I witnessed several children who's parents received welfare and they're children a good share of the time didn't have breakfast.I took a head count one day and found out that almost half of the families who had children who attended school were receiving some kind of benefits.Then the school district brought in the free or reduced breakfast and lunch.
I used to go home after being at school and I'd break down crying and thinking about how much my son had so while other children at his school had so little.I sponsored a Thanksgiving dinner for the whole grade school so I'd know that those children would have something in their little tummies.

I'm furious about it too that someone who is truly in need might not be getting assistance. Can you imagine banking the lottery money and living every month off the government, money that taxpayers have taken out of their paychecks.
