purr4mance: I at one time was all for the death penalty.
Something changed and I am no longer a proponent.
I haven't followed the case all that much but it will be interesting to see what takes place.
i do not support the death penalty.
and like you, haven't been following the case. just watched it last week for the first time, late night tv.. (insomnia..) ...but i'm curious now whether that interview will be taken into consideration.

Who cares...I mean really, she's just another killer in the US of A, and I have my doubts that she'll be the last one.
Why do people follow these stories so closely? Does it effect your life, change your values, make a difference in how you perceive the world at large? Or is it just something to fill your day, gossip more than anything, about someone else's life, something to follow daily.
Quit celebrating your murderers, it's a poor way to spend your time on this planet, let alone anyone else's in reading and answering ridiculous polls and threads.

Jayses H your right. Murderers are the new reality tv stars in the US, crazy or what.

I haven't followed this particular story, but I am interested in the difference between perception of guilt and evidence for guilt, from a legal perspective, from a media/public perspective and the interaction between the two.
And yes, that can make a big difference to how I perceive the world at large and it does change my cognitions and in turn my values.
I find it interesting that on these types of threads there are certain perceptions of guilt based upon assumption: the number of stab wounds may lead us to conclude the killing was vengeful on that piece of information alone. However, if we were to replace the victim with Jozef Fritzel, we might perceive the 'rage' to be justified, or that the killer was making damned sure he was dead out of fear.
We then maybe move on from our perception that the Jodi Arias killing was not justified, to satisfying our own blood lust by justifying her being killed. I find that ironic and interesting how the two are not always connected in our minds.
We accept our own anger, justifications and guiltlessness as being normal and wish to separate it from others who are perceived as not normal and way out there. Its difficult for us to imagine there might only be a very thin line between the two.

Or perhaps its the uncomfortable feeling that there's a very thin line between the two which makes us want to distance ourselves from it, but in so doing, we actually narrow the gap.
I don't even know who it is, I think that the obsession with USA crimes and politics is far more focused here from other countries. I don't know which ones or what percent of people but it is some real sick obsessions for sure. Sure I hear about some things but I am not the type that reads the news or listens to it on the radio or TV. I guess I am more busy with other things and building my own life. Besides, nothing that is said here will reflect on what will happen to this person. All it will do is put people at odds with each other. People will tend to disagree on one point and then not another. At some point they will start becoming angry with the country that it is all happening in and claim it is unsafe and should change their way of life. I guess at that point I would hope someone would change the channel. LOL
