a final demand or statement of terms, the rejection of which will result in retaliation or a breakdown in relations.
different things me thinks...
i think a deadline is good and provides focus for completion.
an ultimatum....not so sure about this...i don't like them.
it can put a negative focus on an issue. in a personal relationship, an ultimatum moves my thinking from love to fear. not where i want to be...i prefer trying to keep a positive view on things.
