I know what you mean and sometimes I wonder about it too but I try to look at it as only virtual friends. Most of mine don't even correspond with me anymore. I would hope that someone isn't put off contacting me because of the friends I have on my profile but if someone happens to take an interest in me and has an issue with who I have as friends, I would be more than happy to discuss it with them.

Well obviously it's a dating site, but that doesn't mean your going to date everyone

I've blocked my "friends' function cos I was getting friend requests from people I had never communicated with.
But, if I receive a message from someone who is not on the forum, I check to see whether he has any friends that are familiar to me from the forums or blogs as a way of getting some form of confirmation that he is real and not a scammer. Not foolproof I admit, since he may have scammed the forum user, but it's better than nothing.

I delete friend requests from people I don't know from the forums or they haven't taken the time to know me through email correspondence. There are some profiles with dozens of friends listed where I start to wonder if CS is an extension of facebook for them.
