Every so often I hear people ranting and raving about some amazing life changing book, written by someone I have never heard of that is suppose to somehow have all the secrets to life and eternal happiness. There are also CDs, DVDs, TV ads all telling me that without this that or the other I will never be happy.
But is it a manufactured happiness, a myth of modern living, an industry just designed to part us with our cash? And who exactly are these people to decide what makes me happy?
To put it another way, is the pursuit of happiness making us happy at all, or just miserable that we haven't got what is suppose to be making us happy?
I don't think you can quantify happiness. It means something different to most people. However, the pursuit of happiness seems to be a natural, inbuilt trait in human beings. We can't help but try to become happy. I believe everyone is doing the best that they can. The books, cds, etc. can only give us suggestions on how to become happy, the rest is up to us. There does seem to be a sense of entitlement to happiness around these days but I don't think there are any guarantees.

Happiness is a transient emotion...it comes and goes and no one can be happy all time.
Never rely on anyone else for your happiness, and do not believe what you read or see on tv and in magazines etc....true happiness is in your own heart and soul/spirit
