hello again

been through it...

its tough..and you really have to be committed..

but in the end one will have to be serious about relocating..

if not it will never work going back and forth

When I joined CS, I had no thoughts of looking for a LDR. Then I clicked on Forums and started posting and reading around, and I saw people for whom it had worked, but I still had no intention of starting a LDR. I had met enough scammers prior to joining here to feel I'd never be able to trust that someone who lived far away, and whose face I could not see in person soon, was real. Eventually, I started one with someone close enough to me to feel that we would be able to meet in person enough to make it work, and found that the reality was I'd been played. I decided I wouldn't be able to handle the thought of a LDR again...trust would just always be an issue. Not a lack of faith in the person's fidelity, necessarily, but in their being real...even if I knew them from Forums. Only friendships would be possible...my heart wouldn't trust like that again.

laugh Yeah...well, Fate stepped in there. A wonderful man is now in my life and in my heart who had two strikes against him...distance, and being a Scorpio. Many of you have seen me say that after divorcing two of those, I'd never date one again. OUCH. Fate bit me in the butt. We're arranging our first meeting for as soon as possible, but even now I trust that he is really who he is on here and on the phone, and I have no hesitations or doubts about this relationship.

So, I am now all for encouraging people to remain open to possibilities that you never thought you could, and not considering distance to be an obstacle. For us, we already know the distance between us will not remain forever. We have already figured out our solution, it's just a matter of time. Until then, we'll see each other as often as possible, and deal with the separations the way we are now...with frequent daily contact on IM, emails, and phone...and playing together in forums.

wine Never say never, Fate will laugh and then bite you in the butt. The glory of that is, it's a love bite, so it doesn't hurt quite so much. laugh

"I was chatting with a dear, sweet guy recently;we hit it off
right from the very beginning. But,the distance played a
huge role in the relationship,a negative role.
You just never know how things will turn out.
By that I mean..never give up on love, for love does
have a way of making things all better again..despite
the distance.So,go the distance....for love."

I Think it can work. I have done it and it went well. The breakup of the relationship had nothing to do with the distance. I say go for it, with the right person it can work.

The minute you put the words 'Long distance' in front of the word relationship, there will be a problem.

Power of suggestion and all of that.

Not easy to deal with at all.

i know it can work, i met my last year and were engaged now, she'l be getting on a plane tonight to come and see me,

just so long as at the beginning of the relationship u talk about relocating and who will do what and come to an agreement, be4 the relationship becomes bigger and your both stumped as in what u will do do then it can work

I think anything's possible if you want it badly enough. You both have to be trusting & determined, it can work. I agree with chriss about talking about who will relocate & such. As the saying goes... love knows no boundaries. wine

Sorry to be smiling in your case, but your mileage is minimal.

The truth is, anything is possible, if the effort and enthusiasm is there, especially with air travel and accomodation being so much accessible nowadays.

I have had three long distance relationships, all beautiful in their unique ways and would do it again in a heartbeat, if it kicked my heart to beat.........

depends on how long your preperd to have the long distance relationship for,

were already making arangments so are relationship isnt long distant,i meen if none of us wouldnt be preperd to move then it would be an issuelaugh and wouldnt work..

but if u have one knowing that u will be living together at the end of it then i cant see any reason it woldnt work,

many will fail, but a few will suceed,

and why cant i speldunno laugh

"Things does have a way of working itself out.
JB and I are planning to meet next week.
He works a shift of two weeks on,two weeks off.
So,that in itself is something to work around.
But,with persistance and patience,we'll make it work. And,although we don't live a great distance
away from eachother,it sure feels live we're
million miles away."

I'll add; Don't ever say you are not going to get involved in a LTR. I'm coming out of a bad marriage and I swore I was not going to get involved with anyone for a long time, if ever. I completely put it out of my mind, until I clicked on her profile. I had the strongest urge to jump into her picture. I fought it. But, I keep being drawn to her profile and I loved what I was hearing from her in her posts. Then one day we had a funny exchange, and she stole my heart. So, don't give up searching, and never, never say never. Cupid has an odd sense of humor, and a very good aim. I truly love you Dru. love

I would give it a try, if the other person was game and I had feelings for them. I believe if two people want something bad enough it can work.

One of the two wuld have to relocate, but I am sure it can be worked out. Or maybe they can both move together in the middle.
