Sounds like they had a lot in common and one thought led into another. Perhaps they just didn't want to end the call. I've had several long conversations but never 8 hours. But their is always my first.
Or it could have been that they were doing some debating and it got out of hand.
To me it simple means they enjoyed each other's company and conversation flowed well while getting to know each other. And since it was so much fun that it led to that many hours. I have done it before.
GreenTassels: Imagine a couple starts e-mailing here at CS. the conversation develops nicely and they decide to make a first phone call. She calls him at 11 p.m., they get talking.. and talking .. and talking.. and talking.. about anything at all, they laugh, they share sad stories, they exchange their inner beliefs and little anecdotes of their lives - and before you know it its 7 a.m. and daylight outside before they finally say good bye!!
What do you make of that? If it happened to a friend of yours, what would you think? How would you react?
I think marriage is imminent and I would run out and buy a new dress for the wedding....

I do that nearly everynight either on the phone or via skype.
And it started with the odd PM here, then on to Yahoo and phoning. The last time I spoke to brain space was this afternoon on the phone..Sometimes like your friend its until 'silly o'clock'..And its a ways to a means..

I have done this as well, and in the end it turned out nothing more than a good conversation, Thats all the farther it went, Maybe shared too much, too quick

But you never know when having a great conversation leads to more. So you have to talk and find out what you both have in common, and what you both feel about things. That's just the beginning. Sure often I have talked to someone for long periods of time then met and it went no where's. That is all part of it.

Longest I ever talked on the phone w/ a woman was 12hrs give or take, and we were only friends. We used to always just talk & hang out for hours on end doing nothing and talking about nothing in particular, so to me, it is what it is to you. What it may mean for some, it may not for others
I say, KOOL Beans!! For those talking about the huge phone bill, maybe she/he has unlimited long distance. I do. Let your friend enjoy her new found friend. GEEEEEZ!!
