i don't really believe in "karma" per se'...bad things happen to good people all the time...it does'nt mean that you have to blame it on someone or something...it just happens

Why did something like that have to happen to him?
Who knows, but it's his REACTION to his condition which amazes people....a TRUE HERO!

exactly my point...for it to be "karma" he would've had to have done something really bad to someone else...and like i said, it just happens...and he must be a very strong person as well, from what you say...it takes a strong person to over come that kind of situation...

I believe that. I have seen this many times.
I think when tragedy strikes. We can appreciate life and what it has to offer a lot more J.

For it to be karma, one would have to step outside of self and see the universe as a whole, not just one single life, one single planet, or one single moment.
"What did he do to deserve it?" is an incomplete question based on a linear view of self.
"How many times in infinity has he done the very same thing over and over that makes him deserve it?" More complete question taking into account events outside of present perception of time as linear.

A cricket becomes a bird becomes a man becomes a god. You'll get there.
Understand that the law of Karma isn't a consciousness, and thus doesn't concern itself with "deserve". Its a "law". A natural force fundamental to the nature of reality. Myoho renge kyo. Cause and effect are embedded within a larger framework (larger being relative here because the place where these things are "stored" are without dimension as we know them).
Buddha sat before a wall, and when he rose he was Enlightened.
Is the wall just a set of separate bricks, or is it a unified whole? The answer is: both. The wall would not exist without the bricks, but the bricks would serve no purpose without the wall. They exist as a resonance between their individual natures.
