US should continue using tax dollars for the world

It seems to me that the world has a real issue with Americanism and hating Americanism is becoming a tired fad. As a tax payer I would rather see the US enforce our tariffs to shore up our trade deficit and put out of work American's to work.
Let's face it. The rest of the world has become complacent about the kind of inovations, Liberties, standard of living, and protection America has provided for them over the decades. This at cost to us the tax payers and the loss of life from our fallen solders. If we were to close our world bases, pull out our troops from what's soon to be Persia II and left the UN America would be in better shape.
I've read that during the G20 many leaders around the world worried about this very thing. Also know that the government of Germany changed their tune about the evils of the US when we threatened to remove our bases.
"The United States, which pays 22% of the U.N.'s regular budget"
and stayed in NATO, the US could remove a great deal of dept from our books. I'm not saying we have to shut the military down but bring them back to Pre-WW2 days. After all the rhetoric is WE cause terrorism.
I have no doubt the Islamic,Russian,Chinese,South American countries would love us for it. Hell the rest of Europe would love us for it as well.
AT FIRST...
Either way I know I would like to see the money back here in the states being used to improve us, shore up our Social Security, Our soon to be National health care system and lower our interest on the dept to the "privately owned" Federal Reserve.
We don't need the worlds Oil (especially if we go towards hybrids).
We don't need their food (especially if we get rid of smog producing ethanol)
The promising thing is the Obama party is going to push for this very thing. Now that Chrysler, and GM is going to be owned by the Unions, and we our nationalizing our banks I can actually see us moving towards Isolationism.
And besides Denmark's military could protect the world

OMG yes we should be isolationists.... stop importing and stop sending food around the world. We also need to stop the relief programs when there is a natural disaster.

America has been kicked in the teeth for helping in almost every country represented here on CS.the world hates us with a passion.Dont u guys think its time Americans were taken care of first??????I always heard the old phrase charity begins at home.I am not saying dont help others, just take care of America first.

NAKEDMUDPEOPLE: How would this effect the other countries? This country is so far behind, it is embarrassing.
I would imagine it wouldn't be good. In fact it would lead to a global meltdown but /shrug that's the world's problem. I think we've bleed enough and have given enough to the world.
Raising the standard of living for other countries just brings our standard of living down. "Americanism" should be practiced, rather than just talked about. What's got the world up in arms is we can't see why other people don't want to be like us. Look around. I don't want want to be like us either.
This opinion brought to you by Mastercard. Don't leave home without it. Somebody needs to steal an identity today.
Good thing this question didn't prevail when the US saved the bacon of the Allies in World War 2, otherwise the Moonbats would be spewing their nonsense in German. (Puullleaaase don't make me elaborate on the MULTIPLE ways that America was THE integral player, as I shouldn't have to.) Good thing after the war that America didn't rebuild Japan and much of Europe either, eh? Marshall Plan ring a bell? Or how about America standing firmly behind the (then West) Germans against the now-defunct USSR (which America also had the biggest hand in their demise).
Look at the two Koreas, and you'll see one country a free and economic power (obviously South Korea), and the other the most isolated, economically shell-shocked nation on Earth. I'm thinking the rational South Koreans thank their lucky stars that America was THE integral foreign entity to help them from meeting their horrific fate that is the communist North Korea.
I could give many other examples of the importance of America, but you get the idea.
The reality is that not only is America the most under-appreciated nation on the planet, but while I wish the world didn't have to rely on America again and again and again....who else can step in and do the proverbial heavy lifting in the world? (I would hope any sane person wouldn't say the UN, who can't even keep a nation (Somalia) from falling into perpetual civil war.)
Basically, if the US ceased to exist tomorrow, there'd be new meaning to ULTRA CHAOS around the world (and the world knows it).

I agree, and if people here want to help out a needy cause and or charites, let it come out of their paychecks personally, that way we are not supporting what our government wants/makes us pay for. WE choose how much would come out of our checks, and choose who it goes too. OH an eliminate the IRS......
The bad thing is there would be so many scams wanting money, and big shots at the charities embezzeling money it would be hard to know which are ligitimate....well much like it is now.. JMO..

Yes our previous wars boosted our economy but not today with the price of weaponry and what good was the previous wars after we won, we spent billions rebuilding there countries JOKE.

.......Hmmmmmmm...........I would like to remind America when you had some major Bush fires in California....quite a few New Zealand Fireman volunteered to help out and put there life's at risk to help a fellow 'Friend' out....same as Austrailia Fireman also volunteered as well and also put there life's at risk also.......No ...I don't hate America people....far from it....but lets have honesty here shall we....some of your Government Foreign policies have been a total disaster....but that doens't mean, just because I don't agree all your Elected Government decisions on Foreign policies....that I haven't got time or day for America...far from it....many a time I have said on C.S forum site....that I have an incredible amount of respect and admiration for the America Constitution.....have a think on this one please....

Fair comments on your part, but while America has made its share of mistakes, at least we try, which is a FAR cry from the vast majority of other nations. I'm not directing this at you or New Zealand (a country I'm fond of, by the way), but it's easy to sit back and lecture the US and point fingers about America's failures when those doing the lecturing couldn't have failed, because they've never even tried.
No question America has had bad foreign policy results, but think of HOW much good the US has done as well. Remember a few years ago when the tragic SE Asian Tsunami hit India, Thailand, Indonesia, etc, there was a vivid live TV news shot of an Indonesian man, in anguish, and he pleaded, "Where is America?!" My point is, FAR more times than any other country, America is there, be it humanitarian missions or fighting for the freedom of OTHER countries, but it's the bad that America's criticized for, vs. the credit you rarely hear about.
Last but not least, thank you and fellow firefighters for you help.
USA is not perfect but still better than most. Everyone is so quick to judge, not talking just USA is like for all the good someone does, no recognition, screw up once they never forget. That's the reason they put erasers on pencils!

you're 100% correct. If only other countries would offer/return such favors the world would be a better place.

Thank you, they were bad fires. I live in Southern California and I have family members in Northern Cal. We all have had to flee from the flames.

Fact is. If we shored up our trade deficit,
link to our current trade problem
removed our military:
Link on our spending on our military. Most of it is spent defending someplace else.
