It just seems so severe!! 100 times per day? I don't think I even have time to complete that, even if I was a chronic liar!!

Its not good to lie... honesty is the best policy, but I think that it's OK to evade...
I do that at work all the time... to protect other's confidentially.

If we are married than i would say no i would never lie to my husband that is not what family is about but i will have to lie every once and a while,especially if his waist gets wider by age then i have no choice but to say YOU LOOK JUST FINE DARLING ...

Example! If it is late at night and her friend died. It does no good for her to be up all night crying her eyes out and being sick the next day. it is too late and she can't help in any fashion. it is better she rest well and be fresh for the next day when she can. I would lie to her and tell her that the phone call was about something else. Then I would tell her in the morning.
Lie....yes.....but never to hurt her or to do her wrong.
