I don't lie to ppl in general. I wouldn't lie to someone I loved or someone I hate. One lie begets another and it never ends.

I don't lie to anyone. I have one of those faces that tells you my answer before I open my mouth if you ask me a question, and also automatically gives it away if I do try to lie or avoid answering with complete honesty, so I can say that my face keeps me honest. Because of that, I've just learned it really is best anyway.
Also, I am so honest that if I do lie, I will come back and tell the truth.
I gave up the two-step process many, many years ago.

If you love someone and are especially MARRIED to them.... lie about having money stashed away for your safety and future in case they ever leave you because otherwise you won't survive and THAT is the number one priority in your life over ANYONE else even a husband. NEVER lying is a fantasy and doesn't exist if you're smart, especially about the above. Don't be stupid, ladies. This has never been my personal experience or situation because I never have NOR want to marry, but have heard of everyone else's horror stories! Telling the truth about anything else doesn't matter according to your own discretion. Financial survival and security is ALWAYS #1.

The tooth fairy etc etc lol
Even lied to protect my children from knowing how horrible their father had been to me and the reasons we split up. They didn't need to know such things at the time so the truth was bent somewhat
As for lying just for the sake of it.....No

I think we have all told little white lies.
A variety of situations can make your reaction to a lie different under the circumstances involved.
Maybe you had a fight with his Mum and decided to keep it on the quite, so he doesn't get all stirred up about it, who knows.
But I've told lies not major ones but I have told a porkie pie.

There are so many ways in which we lie, what do you think actors do for a living? They lie.
There is a difference between lying with malicious intent and telling a fib.
I told my husband once that a pair of shoes was £40 when in fact they were £100...
He told me that he would be home at 7.00pm and rocked home at midnight.
Lying with malicious intent, within a relationship is going to harm, of course it is, any person who is not devoid of sense and conduct knows this.
But it is the people who say that they never lie, that amuse me.
