ooby_dooby: My dear, I have seen redlining in action when I lived in NJ and it isn't pretty. When I went to buy my first house I was steered away from certain neighborhoods because they were considered on the "wrong side of the tracks" I wasn't rich and I was looking for a place I could afford but I couldn't get a mortgage in these red zones from anybody. It wasn't that I couldn't afford the mortgage payments it was where they were located. I suppose you think redlining is a good thing. If the CRA was such a disaster how come neither Reagan nor both Bush's didn't repeal it?
I think, like many gov. programs my dear, it started off as a good idea, but someone took the ball and ran with it. Of course homeownership is a bipartisan idea but the rules were loosened more and more as time went on.

Do you really need to ask why it wasn't repealed? Do you know how hard it is to repeal any legislation? C'mon Ooby.

LuisPortal305: you are 100% correct, yet i can name one guy who was always loved by the majority and was proven in his re-election, Ronald Reagan he won every state but Minnisota

How about FDR.... the only person to ever be elected President of The United States for 4 consecutive terms! And how many other Presidents do you know with immmediate recognition just from his initials alone?

ps. FDR was a Democrat.

pps. Nixon on the other hand was a Republican and is best known as the President who resigned in disgrace, as I recall. I bet Palin could follow in Nixon's footsteps if given half a chance! doh

ppps. I actually liked and have high respect for the late Ronald Reagon, even though I think his "trickle down" economics theories were full of cwap. The rich got richer and the rest of us just barely scraped by due to his economic policies. help

There were many jobs created under and after his term, but problems too.

I'm going to guess that you are referring to President Reagon?

They weren't very good jobs though, mostly minimum wage stuff.

I'd like to see this country invest more in it's citizens (and alot less in foreign aid to countries around the world, most who don't like us anyhows).

I'd like the President of The United Status to stand up and set a national goal for the country to safely land a man (and/or woman) on Mars by 2020! We haven't been truely challenged as a nation to do something HARD since President Kennedy declared that this nation would send a man to the moon within a decade... and we did it! We need those kind of challenges to keep us on top!

Or we could just hitch rides on Russian spacecraft starting aboit a year from now... very mad

But that's just my opinion. dunno

ps. I would not vote for a ticket with Palin on it... I don't vote for quitters.

Yes, I was referring to Reagan. I think he freed up a lot of entreprenurial spirit by lowering the tax rates from 70% to 35 or so. Palin made the mistake of quitting-she should have carried out her term and then moved on though all of the ethics lawsuits were a distraction and costly to the state.

Nobody really. She's a rather dimwitted "soccer mom" who was nominated as McKane's running mate. I think that was a slot no serious politician wanted.
