Sarah Palin exposes the weakness of modern politics - someone good-looking, with an outgoing personality and charm, can grab the imagination of the public. That doesn't mean that that person has the skills necessary to lead a nation.

ooby dooby are you serious? You are proving our point; a half witted actor with personality at that time wowed the country; we love hearing what we like to hear; now Palin, who's comically ignorant, says sweet words and you suck it up because you are a Republican. "I know foreign policy; I can see Russia from my house". OMG. spoken like a true 13 year old blond girl from the OC.

Reagan was a joke. He was the first president in history to add the military to the unemployment statistics. Well they have a 100% employment rate!

He lowered taxes time and time again; especially to the wealthy; and by the time he left office had quadrupled the deficit and created turmoil.

The Iran/contra affair where he was obviously the ring leader and then when tough Ronnie had to fess up, he couldn't remember or know anything about it.

Reagan signing the bill to release many criminals from mental hospitals to save money. Our town has one of the biggest in the country and I remember as a kid almost being assaulted by one of these people; thank God cops were near.

Him saying that our school lunches already had enough fruits and vegetables in it because ketchup was a vegetable. lol

Reagan was a joke; but he sweet talked and used his personality to mesmorize a country.

Palin is an absolute joke; I wouldn't let her run a kennel. It shows how shallow and pathetic the U.S. has become. They dont know anything about history or other countries, but we know who won American Idol. Sarah Palin is the reason other countries think we are a joke and laugh.

We have a desperate growing need for a competent, intelligent and-yes-humble person in high office. The Patronage system of Government cannot produce this individual.
Either faction of the Patronage party must first collapse under the weight of it's own incompetence to open a door which will present a narrow corridore for reform.
I find it difficult to be optimistic.

reagan was ten times the president your husband obama is, he got our nation out of an economic disaster put in place by Carter and the reason we had the financial crash was also because of carter who forced the banks to give loans to people who couldnt afford it, learn your history and then talk

Are you for real or what? How did Jimmy Carter "force the banks to give loans to people who couldnt afford it"?

The "economic disaster" you're talking about was one Carter inherited from Richard Nixon who resigned and dumped it on Gerald Fords lap. Ford was trying very hard to get the economy back on track and having some good results but his abreviated term ran out and he lost the election to Carter. I think you are the one who needs to learn his history.

Good points.

I would also like to say that there was a mortgage foreclosure crisis in Texas in the late 80's (Reagan era into Bush era) when at least a couple of banks in the state folded every week, and there were between 3,000 and 5,000 properties sold on the courthouse steps every month in Houston alone. And Houston is still there. I think we can recover. JMHO. Yay, Obama! cheering

Very true in your last paragraph, like I said in my post she will not make it on the global arena of politics, and yes alot of people in Europe think she is a joke and an embarrassment to the US. Just as Regan was, Margaret Thatcher used him very very well. She had that man eating out of her hand. Palin does not represent America as a whole. Good post.handshake

I was married to a Republican accountant when Reagan was in office and the Tax Reform Act of 1986 was passed. My husband said this was the biggest tax increase in history passed off by Reagan as a tax cut.

I love Obama! peace

Too right, people have got to accept that change is the only way forward and I feel America needs just that, too many old school boys running the show and still are to a degree, lining their power hungry pockets with money that is not always rightfully theres. In Europe he is well respected and liked. That man has the weight of the world on his shoulders and all we do is sit back and critisise him. I know I certainly would not like his job right now.wine cheering

I just have a gut feeling that for some bizarre unknown reason if she ever got elected, that woman would create a bigger divide between the wealthy and the people imbedded in poverty in the US. All glitz, glam, really very boring to me, what does she think politics is a baby shower party for celebrities?wine

Is he? By whom? There is much elitist opinion in Europe which doesn't tell us anything about the people there.
