felixis99: But there is a more philosophical question of whether man is free. Does your freedom end where mine begins? If we live as organized social animals total freedom cannot be possible.
I like the US for freedom, not just because I am thru & thru American but becasue freedom of conscience is protected by our Constitution.
(that our current President probably has not read sorry - bad joke)We here also protect by law your freedom of speech, but there can be local restrictions - on example - obscenity. Which brings me back to freedom pf conscience - no restrictions there, no one in the US can force your belief system, and you are free to have your religion here too- tho the practices cannot usually interefere with local & state law....
Tho' I admit to knowing little about the constitutions from other nations in the "free" world.
Tough to explain this to someone who has not experienced freedom. Like trying to explain light to someone who was born blind. The idea behind our freedom is such that we can do almost anything we want until it begins to harm someone, Now I had a young Mexican try to tell me that there was more freedom in Mexico than there were here because in Mexico he could put up a taco stand anywhere without being hassled by any Health Department like we have here. He could not understand that we , too could put up a taco stand anywhere but we do have rules and regulations that are meant to protect the public which is unlike Mexico where the government could care less.
by the way that is what seems to be happening here.
there really is no such thing as freedom just your vision of what freedom really is.
freedom is not free its paid for by the blood of the fallen soldiers that sacrifice all they have for your visions.
what is freedom? can you threaten the presidents life? no but you can disagree with his disecisions. being free is doing what you want when you want without reprocussions of your actions. there is no country state or continent like that. every place has its rules.
the ability to guide your life in the direction you want to take it would be a more appropriate question if you ask me. in that case i would prolly say that Europe (continent and countries) and america (USA) would prolly be in the top of that list. with asian countries falling closer to the bottom of that list.
Europe is not a Country! Asia is not a country!S. America is not a country and Scandinavia is not a country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why have you put Australia / NZ as one choice???? Would you put America and Canada as one choice???? Australia and NZ are as different as America and Mexico! I suggest you buy a world globe.
BlainX: New World Order- Which country is now the most free?
America = continent Europe = Continent Asia = Continent Australia/NZ = Continent S.America = sub-continent Scandinavia = Geographical Region
So. That leaves 2 countries: Russia and Canada. I think Canada is free, and with that freedom there comes responsibility and I think Canadians handle their freedom well... Russia is more licentious - abusive of their freedom.
