you have the chance to play anything you want all of the time, i play about 30 instruments some im good at some im working on there is a trick BUY QUALITY SECONDHAND if you do this if you can sell it on if its not for you and get all your cash back, gets you over the investment prob if its sax or piano etc another trick practise a little often if it can be carried take it with you everywhere , dont keep anything in a case or itll live there . keep it in the toilet everytime you go there play years will rush by as they do and you will master it . listen to people who are great at it and dont get hung up on dots and script. If you do read music throw it away one in three practises or thats all you,ll ever do , have fun enjoy the journey and finally im actually a visual artist working on an exhibition of naked musicians if anyone fancys modelling naked with their instrument get in touch must be ladies though

Juneau: If you were given the chance to learn to play a musical instument, what would it be?
I have a classical guitar up in my loft, that I've had for decades. When I was at school I had a few lessons, until my exams got in the way, and I gave up. I would still love to have lessons one of these days, particulary to learn to play classical music (John Williams style).
I have also always wanted to learn to play the saxaphone. I think it has a wonderful sound, and really adds something when you hear it played on a song
I have been playing the piano since 5 years of age & am trained to concert level, I have also played the guitar but would love to learn the saxaphone
Juneau: You taught yourself the saxaphone??? Did you find it easy? Do you think you need to be able to read music to do that? Reading music was always my downfall ... I hated it. I would much rather hear a tune and try and copy it. If I took up the saxaphone, I'd have to take out a morgage for a new house (with thicker walls!)
The clarinet and sax are very similar. Except it takes alot more air/lung power for the sax. Speaking of sound-proofing....when I was a beginner my german sheppard would HOWL while I was practicing. Too funny!!!
At least if you play by ear, you don't have to worry about losing the sheet music!

Ohhhhhhh.... that last comment has reminded me that I used to "have a go" at my dad's harmonica when I was a kid!!! Had forgotten all about that, but my old Staffordshire Bull Terrier used to howl his head off every time I started!! Obviously he appreciated my note-for-note perfection! NOT!
Juneau: I know that this will probably sound stupid, but have you ever tried playing a different type of drum? I joined in with a Salsa drumming group once and it was the best fun ever - just a wall of noise! There were so many different types of drum being used, I don't think anyone would really notice if you were a little off beat.
nothing wrong with being a little "offbeat"
I would like to learn how to play guitar one of these days
