It is getting a little serious at times! We are all here to try and make friends. There is no hard and fast rule about profile-making, and I think, judging by the poll results, there is a vast difference in the way people think about profiles. That's not wrong - that's what makes this site so dynamic and interesting!

Hi Amigo ,i understand what your saying ,,maybe even agree a little ,,but the law of averages has got to work out that there are genuine people on every site as well as the scammers {wich is only normal in the cyber world }just as there are in the non cyber world ..You say that only profiles with pics on ,, your still going to get people and it aint there pic ,or 20 yrs old ..

I prefer profiles to ne well-written, medium length with photos, in which people try to give you a glimpse of their true selves.
Some profiles just have a ring of sincerity to them, are positive without being boastful, and..here's a biggie..make me smile and think 'interesting'

Hi Jan....sorry I meant to answer this before....anyways to be honest Im not a big profile checker.....however if someone handsome views my profile then I may take a wee peek back at him....
If you pushed me for an answer though Id have to say medium length profile with pics and the odd forum post...not someone who constantly lives his life on the CS forums though...and definately not someone who has written a short story about his life cos I get bored easily....yawn yawn....oh and finally a couple of my best friends have no pics up and theyre the most gorgeous/intelligent/interesting hunnybuns ever!!

For me, I would say that the long, detailed profile with lots of photos and possibly forum postings, videos etc all add interest, and gives me more of an idea of who the person is. The more varied the photos are, the better too - just my opinion of course!

I just wish people would say their real age, i give mine as i don't see the point in not being honest about it, i just wish others had the courtesy to do likewise...JMO

Just asking out of curiosity.....
Why wont your friends add their photos to their profiles?
My reason for asking is that although I have stated quite clearly in my profile that I will not respond to anyone who has not posted a photo, I regularly get viewed or contacted by guys who have not posted any pictures....
I do occasionally take a peep at their profile and must admit that there have been a couple who I think sounds quite interesting but I have never followed through with contacting them.... my reason being that I really do find it very difficult to be comfortable with "a faceless person"... so, why the mystery?

Well, I would suggest that approx. 300-500 words should cover it adequately. I like a profile that gives a glimpse of the author, not just a paragraph full of cliches.
The example cited earlier (live, laugh & love) is cliched. 'No baggage' is another. What the hell is that? I could go on. A detailed resume or CV isn't required.

I read through all the pages, and must say it gave me a good insight into some of the reasons why some men and women do not post photos...
I wont highjack this thread by encouraging a discussion about the pros and cons of adding photos to profiles, but will take away the food for thought gleaned from your "no photo" thread, and who knows, I might end up looking at the non-photo posters in a different light.....

I have a REALLY long profile!! Am beginning to get paranoid now, as so many of you have said you don't like long profiles!! 
.... It's just that I have a lot to say! I didn't want people to just judge me as soon as they read the bit about me having ME! ME isn't my personality, or my spirit or my soul. It's just an illness! I wanted to try and be honest about the ME, but also show that I am far more than my illness! Anyway, I'll shut up now!
Ankhesenamun: I like profiles that show the guy has a funny side... because life is so "in-your-face" you need a good laugh... Don't ya think?

Here's a good reason not to respond to people without photos showing...
I responded to a local man who wanted to get to know me.
After I explained I was only after friends & pen pals, and I wanted to make that clear, coz he had a daughter & didnt want to go down that pot-hole ridden road & had unfinished business myself, he invited me to chat with him on msn.
We did all the usual get to know you chatting, & discovered that we literally live one block away from each other.
After a lovely, long dialogue, that ended for a bit while he picked up his kid from school, and took up again a bit later, all was goung well. We were getting to know where we both are in our lives...suddenly he started being nasty, then rude, progressing to outright abusive...I tried to find out what had upset him but he evaded answering those questions, & continued to be right out psycho...
I thanked him for the chat & politely ended it...but then was inundated with offline msn messages continuing his rant.
Then logging in here, there was a not-so-nice message in my inbox, & he also felt the need to later bypass all the blocks I had put on him, by commenting on my blog..
Now that would be easy to move on from...but coz I DO have a photo on my profile and he does not, he now knows what I look like...and its pretty different than any other person on the planet...and I have no clue what he looks like, apart from a vague description.
This would not be an issue if he lived on the other side of the world...but we use the same supermarket! He knows which street I live on, and where I spend my Sundays.
Needless..I never reply to anyone without a photo...and am very hesitant in replying to anyone who even lives anywhere in my own state.

Had to laugh at this...some profiles can look a little like a shopping list! I find they are usually the ones that contain my favourite phrase "I want someone with no baggage" I always think...well, try "Barbie" then...she definitely won't have any baggage, cause she is a toy doll that has never actually "lived"[

Hi cvs, and everyone, .... mine is medium profile short in sweet nothing fancy , not into fancy men , dont like them putting alot of information on it unless you are on a instantmessage with them then they can tell you , in a instant message, to tell them about you , like them to tell where they live , cause if they dont put that much on think they are hiding. or something. goes both ways. i guess... love pictures more pictures there are more unique i find him, that way you can tell where he lives in the picture lol...
