I will not be with him because of his brain, but if he was smarter then me it would not stop me from dating him.I am sure we could find some thing to talk about.also there is a thing called books, where i could read and learn things that interested him.A person should never stop learning no matter how old they get...

Moviebuff: You meet someone. They are attractive and interesting and seem to like you.
They are also clearly out of your league when it comes to brains. Maybe he or she is in Mensa, speaks half a dozen languages or was a child progidy who graduated college before hitting puberty. Maybe they are just incredibly quick witted in conversation. Whatever the specifics you get the feeling that this person is, well, just a good deal smarter than you.
Would you be too intimidated to enter a relationship or would you take it your stride? Or would you maybe find it a turn on?
How do you determine who is smartest??? compare your Mensa scores?? I think that you have to take into consideration all the various forms of intelligence, such as emotional intelligence etc etc ...Some of the smartest people I know did not do well at school or Academia but can run multimillion dollar businesses........I would think that had smarts

for 18 yrs, I was with a man of high academic intelligence and I was the emotional intelligence ... unfortunately I learnt more from him than he was willing to learn from me so we didn't compliment each other in the long run ... I lost respect after 15 of those yrs and called it quits after 18 ... I would rather be street wise with a sound mind and heart than be an academic with no clue on how to trust and respect ... being a nice enough guy who loved having fun just wasn't enough for me in the end ... he was 39 when he finally moved out from living with his folks and the motivation was cos his son was 18mths old.
maybe I was the dumb one after all for digging deeper
nah!!!
got a beautiful son who is a good all rounder so I'm not complaining as he's IQ and EQ sound ... oh well something good came out of it

You're exactly right.
IQ is often (not always) a complete load of hooey. If you check out most standard IQ tests, there are a lot of questions that require specific knowledge. The problem with this approach is obvious- not knowing something is not a measure of a person's intelligence- it's a measure of a person's education.
This was brought to light back in the 1960's or 1970's, if I remember correctly, in the form of visible minorities in the US that were performing poorly on standard government IQ tests. One of the big universities looked into the matter, and found that the tests themselves were hopelessly skewed in favour of well-educated white kids.

lifeisadream: But, Of course!
and I would not be intimidated by that at all.
The Nine Types of Intelligence By Howard Gardner
1. Naturalist Intelligence (“Nature Smart”) Designates the human ability to discriminate among living things (plants, animals) as well as sensitivity to other features of the natural world (clouds, rock configurations).
2. Musical Intelligence (“Musical Smart”) Musical intelligence is the capacity to discern pitch, rhythm, timbre, and tone.
3. Logical-Mathematical Intelligence (Number/Reasoning Smart) Logical-mathematical intelligence is the ability to calculate, quantify, consider propositions and hypotheses, and carry out complete mathematical operations.
4. Existential Intelligence Sensitivity and capacity to tackle deep questions about human existence, such as the meaning of life, why do we die, and how did we get here.
5. Interpersonal Intelligence (People Smart”) Interpersonal intelligence is the ability to understand and interact effectively with others.
6. Bodily-Kinesthetic Intelligence (“Body Smart”) Bodily kinesthetic intelligence is the capacity to manipulate objects and use a variety of physical skills. This intelligence also involves a sense of timing and the perfection of skills through mind–body union. Athletes, dancers, surgeons, and craftspeople exhibit well-developed bodily kinesthetic intelligence.
7. Linguistic Intelligence (Word Smart) Linguistic intelligence is the ability to think in words and to use language to express and appreciate complex meanings.
8. Intra-personal Intelligence (Self Smart”) Intra-personal intelligence is the capacity to understand oneself and one’s thoughts and feelings, and to use such knowledge in planning and directioning one’s life.
9. Spatial Intelligence (“Picture Smart”) Spatial intelligence is the ability to think in three dimensions. Core capacities include mental imagery, spatial reasoning, image manipulation, graphic and artistic skills, and an active imagination. Sailors, pilots, sculptors, painters, and architects all exhibit spatial intelligence.

Correct me I,m wrong, but I think one word that could be used is "empathy".Many with high intellect seem to lack this, why?
