I love the "we are the athiest, who don't believe in anything" banter. It's so great to hear it again. School has been kicking my butt, but I am hoping that my new status of being unemployed will help free me some time to come in here more often.
I hope you have been missing me. I have been reading and learning. I finally finished the God Delusion. Some of it made me mad, some of it made me laugh, but I am glad I did. Mr. Dawkins is a smart one. I am also in the middle of reading "I don't have enough faith to be an athiest" by Norman L. Geisler and Frank Turek, and "The Reason for God" by Timothy Keller. Good stuff and I can't wait to share with you guys.

It is not easy coming in here to see all the same arguments still going on. 13 pages, which about 250 posts, and only about 50 of them make a point or address the issue. What is the issue by the way? You yeah, do you believe in Jesus? I come here raring to go, ready to mix it up with some good conversation and debate over the topics presented here. But it doesn't take long before I realize that I been here before. Its like being excited about seeing my favorite show, only to find that this week is a re-run.
I was hoping to use some of my newly aquired knowledge to scrap it out with some equally equiped adversary from the other side, but it just doesn't seem as fun as it used to be.
Me and my friends are starting a church. We are hoping (and praying) to do it right. We are going to keep our doctrine simple and pure so that Chrisitans from many denominations can come feel welcome. We are going out into the community to help the helpless, the widows, and the orphans. We are going to teach the people to live in a way that the world knows we follow Jesus, and that is because of the love we have for one another. I know it will be difficult, pretty much impossible, but this is where God comes in. If He is in this, we have a shot. I know many of the freethinkers (a contradiction in terms) will poo poo the idea, but we are not doing this for them. Just as God doesn't exist to satisfy the infinite pointless questions, like where did Cain get his wife, with answers accepted by everybody. We are doing this because it is what we feel God wants us to do. And if anyone is visiting Dallas, Texas, I hope you come visit.
Now, if anyone has a good point as to why they do not believe in Jesus, step forward now, and see if you can knock me out of my calm Christian disposition. I dare you to make me lose my cool. Let's get this thread restarted!

I have accepted Christ as my personal savior, I have many Jewish and Muslim friends and thats the one topic we steer clear of, it makes for better friendships.

I believe Jesus walked the earth and possibly he did do many of the things as written. Not a believer of organized religion, but I would like to sit down and have a beer with him someday.

Agreed, if I had to make an assessment, I would guess he was a great and influential man that preached love and peace and stood up for his message against great odds. Very much similar to Gandhi. I would also hypothesize that due to the dates the books of the new testament were written and the culture of the area of that time and due to similarities of pagan religions and the story of Jesus, that allot of the stories are conjecture that fit the environment as well as adaptation of old beliefs borrowed and reformed to fit into the story of Jesus.
And that is probably the biggest run on sentence I have ever written that I do not feel like fixing

I mean really?
Is that even possible? How is my expressing what I believe, shoving it down your throat? I have to laugh. Because for you to be so offended, you have to go on a dating site, specifically pick a category titled “Religion, Spirituality & Philosophy”, you then have to go to a poll titled “do you believe in Jesus?”, and then you have to deliberately read a post that rubs you the wrong way. How dare those people post something about believing in Jesus in a thread like this! People sure do work hard to get themselves into a position to be offended. LOL

If we really believe what we say we believe, what else would you expect us to do? LOL
It isn't easy to lay what you believe out there for everyone to take potshots at. It is so much easy to be the skeptic who reveals nothing. Who is safe from critique. Because they believe in nothing so they risk nothing. Pointing out the faults in others is alway easier than looking at yourself.

the question is do you believe in jesus. a simple yes or no answer, with perhaps your reasons either for against suffices. the problem i have is one espews verse upon verse upon verse out of the bible with loud emboldened type, thats when it becomes you pushing your beliefs on us

Or did you just choose to read this and then get upset at your bad decision?
Or do you feel you have the right the read anything you want without having to put up with those which you do not agree? Do you think I should express myself in a place you could never find me? You certainly made the effort to seek me out tonight.
