Ken35: fine gael all the way even if kenny is an imbecile. I've even persuaded my staunch ff father to vote fg for the first time ever. My cousin who was considering sinn fein is now voting labour.
Maybe your father just told you that to keep you quiet and fully intends to vote FF again.
On a serious note I wouldn't be surprised if FF do a lot better than expected because a lot of people who are angry at what they have done nationally are still fond of their local FF TD, and may think of him/her on the day and actually vote for them. They may be at 15% in the polls but I wouldn't be shocked if they get 20%.
Is it true that if you decide not to vote this year, your vote goes to the party you last voted for....some drunk was trying to tell me this over the weekend..
Also what happens if nobody votes at all....i know its never gonna happen but whats the craic if it ever did
Everyone who has a vote should use it. Better to give a vote to someone you would like to get a shot at a seat even if you know they won't.
Spoiling a vote is no advantage to anyone... in fact it plays into the hands of the person you least want to get elected as it's one less vote against them.
I think a lot of people who spoil votes forget that! You may think you dislike all the options equally ... but there is always one that you dislike more than the others and if you can't vote for someone you should use your vote to work against the person / party you dislike the most

Where do you vote? The middle east? Votes are private... how can your vote be allocated to the party you voted for last time if nobody but you knows who that was?
I'd say what he meant was that if you don't vote you are accepting no change from who was voted in before... as you are not voting against them.

If nobody voted I guess the candidates themselves would at least vote and so would their families and the quota would be so low that that would be all they needed to win, whoever had the biggest family in other words.

puggle: i know who i wasn`t voting for this time.. but un-sure of who ,to vote for..so...i used a very scientific un-proven method
as candidates called to my door that i would consider, i saw how long i could keep them talking and timed it! the longest who stayed gets my no.1..lol
voting for mick wallace,independent...he`s manager of wex.youths soccer team...we talked bout footie for 22.67 mins...
well its as good as anythin else!!!!
I think he could do well. I've heard a lot of people saying they are giving him at least a preference vote... and quite a few giving him their number 1.

70Libra: the people doing the counting... that would be me... pay absolutely no attention to the content of the spoiled votes... just that they are spoiled.
You are wasting your time spoiling your vote, better to stay home and spend the time clipping your toenails.
Even better i'll go to Oz on a 457 visa, one more educated commodity off the social payroll, 2 weeks and counting. Another one bites the dust.
prob is that dwyer was last election candidate and he`s not now..gone independant...he`ll split the vote for sf in s/west of county near new ross(his home town)... think they`ll not have enough trans to hang round for last seat... and cause wallace is so popular in soccer circles and in general...he`s gonna pick up transfers ev where...enough to be there at the 5th seat battle..imo
wexford-5 seats prediction... 1st count...no one reaches quota 2nd count darcy(fg) and howlin(lab) both elected 3rd/4th counts... kehoe(fg) and cody(lab) in..
7th/8th/9th counts wallace elecged without reaching quota...
wexlady41: Yeah I reckon that's how it will end up alright. I'd like to see Wallace take the last seat (or really piss off the others and take the 1st seat! )
But I reckon Connick and Browne could arrange their transfers to get 1 of them in. I hope not but I wouldn't be surprised.
prob for those 2 is simple one has to do so bad as to be eliminated 1st to transfer over.so other can get in...not gonna happen both are too strong on ground in their local areas.. so their local stregth could ultimately be their down-fall
reckon the 2 of them could be lodged on 5,000 votes each with no transfers anywhere to be found...wallace with 4,000 and then pick up most all the non fg transfers....jmo

ff might not be as transfer toxic as people think, i can see them picking up transfers, i don't know much about wexford but if fg pick up three seats there then we are looking at an overall majority

can`t see it due to the wallace figgure..but look... it`ll be really close for the 5th seat...whether its 3fg or ind. or one ff or sf... watch wex guys

I can't see fg getting 3. It could happen, of course, but I don't think it will.

I just had a look at boards.ie and there poll shows Wallace taking the 1st seat, then Howlin, Twomey, D'Arcy and Cody to take the last seat.
puggle: i love crunching the numbers after a few counts... use to be a tally man and analyst yrs ago..free lance non/party.... have a 93/100 hit ratei`m sad..yes! i know!!
