Qaddafi seems to have the upper hand. Rebels are in retreat and his forces seem to be expanding their area of control and, at this point, there is no sign of meaningful aid to the rebels from any other country. Is the rebellion doomed?

Qaddafi will not stop the rebellion and neither will Gaddafi !!!

We finally beat them out. We killed all their top secret service people in one night !!

I think he'll go, it'll just take a little time. Hopefully w/o the US having ANY involvement.

Frankly, I don't think there even really is a rebellion.
Just a CIA effort to try to justify a US invasion.
They might have a few paid provocateurs, as they did in Iran.
But there are no "rebel forces".

And Gaddafi sent money to the IRA.
And he also kicked the US out of Libya.

If you want revolution against imperialism, Gaddafi's your man.

Any "opposition" is the CIA.

The IRA are just terrorists and have done nothing but cause trouble in Ireland !!
Gaddafi will fall as will any like him.
The people are starting to fight back.
It's about time.

The rebellion is not strong enough. Its not going to last . Unlike what happed in Egypt . This rebellion is violent and outsiders interfered and blown in off out of proportion and destroyed its cause .An armed conflict like this takes years yeald result to Its bound to die soon . Gaddaffi is bound to stay even though its not desirable

One other way in which he may 'stay in power' is if those oil starving 'coalition against human suffering' nations, aka NATO, strongly suggest that Libya be partitioned, either in half, north to south , say from Sidra to the border with Tchad or quarter it, let's say from Sirte south to 25 degrees latitude...what ever, but with the proviso that the major ports for oil exports be given to the 'rebel faction' while Gadaffy stays in what is left of Libya ending with an Eastern and Western Libya, with a possible 'Caprivi Strip' created as between Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia; a sort of legal 'no man's land' wherein any and everybody is 'fair game'...the new European and American tycoons and buffoons dictating what will be as usual...

This outside interference is to instigate a Civil war there . Even though the protesters demanded no outside interference , Nato is going to carry out the ground operations from April onwards , Its clear that this struggle is going to continue and will be mess. and a civil war will be ensued .Gaddafi will never be caught as he remain a reason for the occupational force to be there to " protect human-right and new found democracy ". AS you have suggested the north and south part will be ceded and European and Americans will lay hands over the oil reserve pushing Lybians to poverty
