PandoraX: The full closed helmet and jacket will be taken care of... and this is my first time. So I have to get used to it before investing in more gear.
Really important to wear appropriate shoeware (boots) to protect your ankles Pandora in case the bike slides or something. Also trousers of thick material preferably re-inforced on knees for same reason. It's either the protection OR your skin!!!
Leather gloves are cool in summer and spring but if it's very cold not warm enough unless they're padded!!
I still got my leather jacket and my helmet from my bike riding days!!!! (only riding pillion not driving). My last husband had a 950 TDM
EagleWoman: Sorry Pandora hadn't read your other post before I wrote th e above post. I see you have it all covered safety wise!!!!!!!!
I'll have it covered as soon as I find a pair of really thick jeans (at least 12-oz denim) that fit me properly. I might have to order out of the US, because I need a low rise with a slimmer fit.

Haven't tried those yet... I'm looking for something a little less pricey to start with (because my first ride will be Easter weekend).
And can I say who the hell made the Wrangler Texas cut for women? Makes me look I have no shape in front and the waist is uncomfortably high (especially for sitting). I may have killer long legs, but I have a short torso to go with them.

I bought my gear when they had a sale on. So if you go have a look you might find something really good bike riding quality for the same price you might pay for ordinary trousers IF they have items on sale.
One thing to bear in mind is that the jacket and clothes ride up a bit while you're sitting on the bike so if the trousers are TOO low rise your mid riff will freeze. It's really bad to get really cold around the kidneys area. That's why the bikers jackets have a bit that's longer at the back. But that won't help if the trousers are too low rise....

I don't think you understand... for me an average low rise jean fits like the regular rise fits the average woman. I'm not talking the super low rise that would give even me slight builder's crack.
And I have a catalog from Hein Gericke and have located two of their stores within traveling distance. I might have to go take a look before Good Friday rolls around...
