kidatheart: Yep, same here, and we're heading for an election in the near future in Canada. I'll still vote, but I don't care for any of the current party leaders.
I won't be spending the time to look at the US elections or study the leaders in the running like I did the last time either. I still think Ron Paul would have made a better president than anyone else mentioned then, and would again now.
Who's running in Canada? What are their platforms in a nutshell?
YankeeJ: Early 20s thank you very much. I think I'll speak to someone whos generation didnt screw mine over by running up a massive deficit that I am now responsible for, and will most defiantly take away any chance of my generation collecting social security.
Your generation obviously did not head the warnings I am giving because the exec and leg has always been extremely republican or extremely democratic. This created policy that is extremely one sided through each swing through the political spectrum. By making the two oppose each other, they are forced to make policies that take both sides into account thus every policy is appealing to the American people and will benefit everyone. Thats how checks and balances work. If one branch dosent agree with another, they have to work together to make a policy they can all agree on.
No disrespect, but it dosent matter how long you've been around. The past 50 years have shown a massive decline in the effectiveness in our government because of stupid moves by the generations before me. Im sorry if I do not trust anyone older than 35 with our government anymore, but everyone over that pretty much screwed me out of the opportunity to get a job after college, screwed over our country for the next century by not being able to post a surplus, and screwed everyone else out of getting a decent mortgage to buy a decent home. YOUR poor decisions became OUR mess to clean up. and by the looks of it, my generation is showing a lot of promise.
I don't like the way that things went either. That's why I'm totally distrustful.
How the leaders affected the young folks also affected me too.

You make a good point Cin...I was living in Fla when GW was voted in for the second time...I remember the resounding shock and silence as the realization dawned that no-one had voted for him

Probably the ones who couldn't read the ballot designed by the Dems. They thought they voted for Kerry.

While visting in California during the Presidental election I heard on the news that some people weren't let in to vote at some voting places in certain parts of Ohio. Then I heard where the media weren't allowed in either. There was an awful lot of yas and nays about who atually won.It was a mess.

It was indeed (not that Canadian politics are much better) I remember all the controvery at that time. It was a very hot election. It was a very unnerving...everywhere there was this shocked disbelief. Peeps were talking in hushed tones everywhere and looked like deer in the headlights. I was objective being a Canadian, but it opened my eyes to ask the question what is RALLY going on. But mostly my heart ached, the people had fought hard and yet been cheated in the end.

Ccincy: Frankly I could care less who runs or wins cause it's not really going to make a hill of beans anyway.Neither side will ever really and truly work together for the betterment of the people.

That's why I'm distrustful of our politicans. To me they're all the same.
They have really nothing to lose like we have. All they lose is an election. We can/could lose everything.
I've been thinking about posting a thread about something but haven't figured out whether or not to post it. It's about the little lie our government has told us throughout history.
mindfful: the menfolk are now wringing their hands
my job is done
O gosh you should jump onto the "peace in the middle east" thread then...Its shocked radio silence over there...They just got a blast of women perspective...

Sadly I dont think your alone in that Cin, I think many governments have lied to us, In my home country as well. But I also believe people are waking up. If the sleeping giant (my American cousins) wake up to thier power it will rock political structure to the core, and change the course of history...Right now theres a deep anger, that could make the 60's revolution look like kindergarden

It doesn't seem to matter anymore who wins, the people lose either way.

I remember "counting chads" and the stupid decision of the court to stop the recounts. The whole election should have been repeated. They had from November to Inaguration day to get a clean vote.

So you thought some moron holding a card up to a light trying to figure out "voter intent" was scientific?
