EagleWoman: So what you're saying is that woman is still being objectified ...most popular amongst woman
who the models who get told to starve?
who the women who believe plasctic surgery is the only way to look like a model?
who the women who can't look like models even if they had new body parts fitted?
who the women who get told over and over again that they're too this and too that?
who the women who see time and time again men choosing modelesque figures of average looks?
In what positive way exactely is fashion and beauty popular with women?
In what positive way does beauty help a woman?
It can help in a career.
It can win approval in social situations.
It can mean she gets a more intelligent, more successful husband. Which can mean she has children that inherit the genes of a more intelligent Father, and prosper in a more affluent environment.
So apart from the areas of family, friends and work beauty doesn't help a woman at all.
Beauty is a relative concept, and the mad extremes some women go to just to look beautiful is simply women competing with other women. If all women were less attractive, all men would have no choice but to deal with it and we wouldn't care because we'd never know any different.
As I said earlier, Feminism is chauvinistic. Saying that the current problems within Women is somehow the fault of Man - without entertaining the idea of taking any responsibility - is just that, chauvinism.

You were talking about the fashion and beauty industry and woman's approval of it. I replied to that.
How beautiful a woman is as you say is subjective to time and era.
Women did take responsibility by stopping the servile role men had put them in. They are still taking responsibility, now more than ever by not being dependant on men for their every day needs. Who exactely has a THE problem, if there is one?

cgedvr: of course cb...
although, times have changed...
used to be that women stayed with their men no matter what...
when they should have been leaving...lying,cheating,beating...blah blah
nowadays i see women lookin to upgrade...because they can
imo
not judging anybody here C. staying with their man,no matter what..today that probably matters, pursuit of happiness and all that?times have changed..today,it should matter more if a woman is staying with her man..
My tools and my garden shed (if I had one ) aren't so good when it comes to hugs and chatting and loving and sharing moments and basically all the things that tools can't do and money can't buy - warmth and love

EagleWoman: You obviously forgot to read part of one of the answers I posted earlier in reply to you where I say feminism is NOT about who changes the nappies or cooks the dinner but about a woman having the rights to make her own decisions about ALL pertaining to herself as well as earning the same money as a man for same responsibility within a company.
Your last sentence is the key!! The man on the shop floor HAS to do what the boss says!! And not so long ago, the woman in the kitchen had to do what her husband said with exactely the same lack of freedom!!!! that's what femenism tried to change.
This is my last post to you on this subject.
be happy to clean your kitchen floor whilst your makin breakfast...
on my hands and knees...
but thats just in the hopes of lookin up yer dress...
trueheart1941: hi....ginger......going back to the caveman......he was the hunter..and provider..and care,r......i suppose even today that still..applies......the only half wit men i know are the one,s we vote for....who,s law,s ...govern...both men/woman.....and tho,s are...the ones who stop woman...having......:equailty/growth/and treatment.....and not the man who lives with you...husband/partner......jmo.....
All that changed when women got the vote. Laws changed to suit them, because they had power with that vote, to vote men out. It is why emancipation was so important and worth fighting for. It meant that women had a say not only in how the country was run, but in how they were treated.
SUNSHINEB0Y: You're probs right I have to admit I have my moments either way Bobans right about wimmens ego's too, hell hath no fury like the wrath of the cs witches of easwick scorned
Boban1: I see your point ,but deep down ,isn`t exactly the macho type of Men that attracts Women ...and once they get a real Macho, they spend a lot of time in breaking it down...
I believe that men think that women like macho men, and the media perpetuate that, but the reality is, that women like intelligent men with compassion who are trustworthy and honourable.

SUNSHINEB0Y: Hi Gb, I hope you don't mind me saying that, that is a very irish point of view, the catholic church has had a major effect here, in other country's such as africa where nomadic tribes like the massai exhibit male dominance it is for survival reasons as the other man said. I gotta go back out to work so g'night all.
I have lived with the Masai, and women there have often more freedoms than women here. They assume whatever roles they need to, for the survival of the tribe. They are not told what to do by men.
Nothing to do with Catholicism in Ireland really. It has to do with all similar religions in all countries.
For instance in third world countries, where many of the Christian religions, as well as Islam, are dominant, men are also locked into a dominant role. Women are locked into being care-givers, and mothers, and are kept in place by strick rules and dire consequences.
Hell, even in Western countries, you have Mormanism and such, where women are not only subjugated, (being brainwashed into being grateful for their lesser roles), but even dress like two centuries back, and allow themselves to be second, third and even tenth wives to men who dominate them.
So intelligence has nothing to do with dominance by males, or being macho, or being ruled by religious rules, although archaic thinking does. How intelligent is someone who allows themselves to live by these dictates, as opposed to moving on in their thinking, and getting real about women actually being equal?
