ek Interesting thought!!...we are just fooling ourselves...I actually looked up the definition and basically it stated what you said...it is a balance...knowing your strength and weaknesses...I guess it could be knowing who you are warts and all!!...thanks for your comment!!
wallops Yes...it appears people have a difference in opinion when it comes to the definition of humility...fear of being seen as weak...but without this trait...how can we learn from each other?...trying to be right all the time causes conflict...getting to know people without prejudice and being willing to accept responsibility for our words or actions is admirable...
didier Cat is right...why tempt fate?...when my ex was applying for Canadian citizenship...he made a habit of avoiding fights...New Zealand males were known to punch it up in bars...he was keenly aware of this...he avoided confrontations at bars and kept quiet...he received his citizenship by playing a smart game...survival is the key here and fulfilling your desires...
sista Sometimes people get lost in semantics but I think people know that it is important to have self worth and a good sense of self but some possess inflated egos which leads them to be either be too self assured...unrealistic in their abilities or covering up their lack of self worth...does that make sense...lol...thanks for your comments!!
cat I think a big ego can be a sign of insecurity but a keen sense of self is healthy...speaking about moderation...but I agree arrogance is not a good trait to have...less likely to listen and learn from others...
2nd the blogs have been a little less than kind lately...but I see some redeem themselves...they admit their faults and try to make an effort to listen and understand...some are too rigid to budge from their perches...being humble is a good trait...thanks for the comment!!
gentle We all have egos...yes...but being humble is a good thing!! Perhaps we need to understand that we all count!!...have a good day/evening and thanks for dropping by...
luke Yes...met a few people who no matter what...could not be reasonable...too rigid in their thinking to actually consider another viewpoint...arrogance or inflated ego...not a good trait!!...thanks for your comment and have a good evening too!!
cat Have I got a deal for you!!...just send a money order to me and I will make sure your ego is mailed to you...and include shipping and handling fees...
snooks Is it a matter of semantics?...having empathy is key to being a good person...being humble to me means I don't hold all the right answers...the gift of getting along with people is to keep that ego in check!!...thanks for your insight!!
wallops It takes courage to admit fault!!...so who wants to be right all the time...we won't learn a thing!!...being humble...nothing wrong with that!!...and we can also agree to disagree...without being disrespectful...thanks for your comment...cheers!!
john What a scary account!!...you trusted your instincts!!...it could have been you?...lesson learned...better to walk on by...no matter how humiliating it may have been...you cannot argue with crazy... glad your still here to tell the tale!!
zman I am not selling cars...lol...but I have a deal for you!!...aside from that I do agree...we cannot be too soft but I do believe if we are open...we can learn...
titan I respectfully disagree...why?...if you have not the ability to be a good listener and think too much of yourself...you will fail!!...being humble is a good trait...no boss I know did well working with people if he/she failed to listen to others' ideas...also big egos sometimes mean the person is highly insecure...hiding behind this demeanor to disguise insecurities...perhaps being moderate is best...a healthy ego!!
lind I think sometimes people bait others into unkind words...we are only human...but at least you can admit it...some don't...as you know first hand...thanks lind!!
john Yes...sometimes we need to recognize the futility of the situation and we have all said things to one another that is less than kind but being big enough to admit fault is key...
