I would belive you , my father died 4 years ago and when I got my share , I was surprised by people I did not know , who tried many ways to get the money from me ,even my own family ....and now its all gone , and seen or heard from them since ..
its just too weird , its like some big con to get something from you , and the games begin , ...see if you can get his ex alone and make sure she is his ex and not being paid to say so ...be carefull some people do the strangest things when they think you have more than them , .....next time you see him , say the IRS has cleaned your bank out and are taking your house , for unpaid taxes and you have to move out ....and see if he wants to still know you or split
