Hello, Sands I left the dad of my daughter 10 years ago because he has a narcissistic personality disorder. It took a long time until I really understood that such people haven´t developed all the good social mechanisms that are the base for empathy and understanding. It took such a long time that I understood that he will never be able to understand. He thinks his world is "normal", and I think he is not "normal". There is indeed only the way to walk away. I remember when I walked away, he sold all my things, but let me come believing I can pick them up, but stood in an empty room with my friends who wanted to help me carry things.
Because I grew up with parents who loved each other, I tried always to make it possible that my daughter and he could develop a kind of good relationship, but he was not interested. It is as if a child has for him no own personality and should never have one. To tell a long story short: my daughter is twelve now. She is so dear and smart, and she has a backbone and is so social. The older she became, the less they met because she does not react to the mean mechanisms of him (making her feeling guilty and such things), and of course a child feels if someone is behaving like an adult or puts himself at the same level as the child (what he does). I am so glad that we always talk about everything. There is not much contact any more. It is for a narcissist terrible, I think, when he is not admired any more. So he stayed away simply. He didn´t call for almost 9 months now. My daughter´s birthday was last Saturday. For the first time he didn´t call or sent a present. Yesterday I was in the bank. My daughter had asked me to bring a statement of her bank account. There was a payment from him. He wired 1 Cent with the reference or purpose Happy birthday. It was also a few days too late. I am sure, it made him feel good and he thinks my daughter deserves that. So insane can a narcissist be. And it is useless to think long about such disgusting behaviour. I am glad that we have the possibility to simply not react (that is what we will do). And the birthday of my daughter was nice. We all in our family love her very much and she knows that.
I think being single is okay for me anyhow and I don´t feel alone, but if a man would come along and say "I am so in love with you, let us solve together all maths puzzles of Martin Gardner" ... oh, that would be the best I can imagine

You said that boy had an IQ of 122. Here in Germany he would be "very intelligent". But because of the potentially different standard deviations (SD) in the different countries, so, if Spain would have a different than Germany, he would maybe have here a lower result or less points. As far as I could see Germany and for example England have the standard deviation 15, the USA 24 and sometimes also 16, so each IQ result of an US test would be, converted into a German or British result, lower. And now everybody lies snoring in their keyboards, I know :-)
The British IQ of 163 from the lovely poster here is therefore 163 or stays 163 (because Britain has also SD 15) and I believe instantly that she is high talented.
In general and from my personal experience in my own family on the one hand it doesn´t help to know your IQ or doesn´t change anything, but on the other hand it is good when you can explain yourself things like that you feel completely wrong on this planet, why you do things differently than others, why you are much faster in some things than others and much, much worse in some things than others. Being gifted does not mean everything is easy. I think everybody who is called "gifted" knows from their heart that it is nothing to be proud of, but that it feels like a normal feature of the soul or character, coequal with all other features. Normal and difficult, because it can bring also with it so many not-abilities.
I was tested by psychologists and one time by Mensa when they were in Osnabrueck in the University, and then again in 2013 together with my child by a psychologist. The first time I was twenty years old. I could have sworn that I got more stupid over the years (it felt like that very much), but my IQ hadn´t changed (or maybe a bit, I don´t know - since a few years they only test up to 145 in Germany). I don´t think that it would be different if I wouldn´t have been a smoker.

Which SD is mentioned in the report of your test? It is an honest question. I ask because I find such things interesting and couldn´t find the SD for your country in the internet.
I had a pharmaceutical company from 1990 until 2006. Here in Germany it is like that that there is a law for pharmaceutical price regulation. When you are a producer and sell your pharmaceutical to the pharmacy to a certain price, the pharmacy is bound to the price regulation. When you sell it to the wholesale and the wholesale to the pharmacy, all involved are bound to the price regulation. When I sell for example one original package of a pharmaceutical to the wholesale for 14,92 €, the wholesale is bound to to sell it to the pharmacy for about 21 €, and the pharmacy is bound to to sell it to the end-consumer for about 30 €.
In general all prescribed drugs (if it is not a private prescription) will be paid by your health insurance, and you have to pay in the pharmacy only 5 euros per prescribed pharmaceutical.
When you buy it as a producer, the price for single ingredients for pharmaceuticals, especially things like acetyl acid or paracetamol, are ridiculous low.
Here in Germany it is by the way like that that you can apply for so called standard licences when a patent is expired. For the mentioned pain killer ingredients you only have to pay a few hundred euros for a standard licence, and you can produce them. But it doesn´t make sense, because there are big companies who sell such pharmaceuticals for such little prices (because they produce and sell tons of it) ... no one could underprice them.

Hello, 1to1to1, oh, I know what you mean. When I think about such people then it is for me a fact that they have the disability and not you. They are disabled in their brains and souls, and I would never want to change with them because, I think, for them is only half of the emotional and intellectual world available that is actually there.
I know it is said easily, but don´t let such people make you feel bad.
I tried always to explain it to me like this: I think, when we listen to music, there happens a lot in our brain. The sound passes so many different stations in our brain without having reached our consciousness at all. I always thought, when the sound is between two of these many stations my brain gives me the illusion all the "musical information" (to what I am listening with headphones) was there already before I heard it, and my brain only repeats what it knows already so well (although it is impossible). I hope that does not sound so weird :-) I really know what you mean.
