I've never been in the US military or in the employ of Blackwater for that matter. Back in my day if we disagreed on anything a superior officer said we would be so insulted or even physically attacked. That's all part of being taught discipline. What you described now makes me see why the US prefers to start proxy wars instead of using their own troops. As I said , depending on the present situation, if a troop decides that reverse is better than the command forward I wouldn't put money on him not being shot not matter what rule 3, 5 or 15 sez in the rule book.

My 'pal' happens to have been a career soldier. If you know that being a soldier means that you follow orders given to you by superior officers. The 2 above sentences should cover all aspects of your statement thats trying to imply that he is/was a bad person. If he refused orders he may have been disciplined or maybe even shot for insubordination depending on the situation at the time. For some this is inconceivable.

When Wagner employed a few hundred fighters in Poland, Europe started having panic attacks. When for years NATO was creeping closer and closer to Russias border after promises and agreements they would not do this.
After Ukraine was unwilling to comply with the Minsk agreements and organized killing sprees into the region.
After the residents of Donbas were suffering from indiscriminate killing, with their only sin being that they opposed the 2014 “coup” and shift away from Russia.
After murdering thousands of Russian civilians in the region, treating them like sub-humans.
After installing a puppet government in ukraine that is pro Neo Nazi.
After seeing that the US/NATO slowly expanded its sphere of influence after five waves of adding European countries, and its history has shown that it does not fear launching offensives into countries it deems as threatening, such as the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia and US actions in Syria, Libya and Iraq.
After seeing that US/NATO would add Ukraine to its sphere of influenced puppet states, advanced missiles could be positioned near the Russian border and could reach Moscow in almost no time – in some cases within minutes.
This is akin to a knife being held to Russia’s throat.
After SEEING all the above mentioned FACTS, I honestly cant say that I blame Russia or any othe country thats in a similar position, for invading.
