Yes it is sad. Lets try and find the cause of this split. If you research the USA's tactic's you will find that ANY country that goes against their 'bigger picture' is put on a list of sanctions and punished. Wouldn't it be fantastic if they (USA) used a different method of indirectly forcing countries to comply with their decisions of how the world should be governed?

The concerns you raise is valid. I'm not sure what you mean by 'DESTABILIZE the diplomatic rifts'. Many people are not aware of the power that Brussels wields not only over the EU but over africa too. NATO, USA and It's allies are one entity in my humble opinion. That it's a sad state of affairs is mildly put.
Just wanted to add I don't approve or condone how these leaders are governing their countries. I just ask myself why is 'aid' so easily handed out (not in disaster times) with the left hand and the right hand is ready to take. That's not aid imo.
