But he's NOT the same Bern that was being Felt four years ago.

Compared to his '16 New Hampshire win, he's lost considerable ground.
Demographics -
His strong supporters, Young/Millennials - 19% of '16 voters ... in '20 - '15%
Among Self-identified INDEPENENTS ...
In '16 - 79% of 'em Felt The Bern
In '20 - only 29% were still ablaze.

It was a two way race in '16 and there were more options this time 'round, but it may be that '16 SHOULD'VE been The You Of The Bern.

The Don doesn't need to win a Majority of Black/Minority voters.
As pointed out in the presentation in my comment above if 'Crats lose 25% of just the Black Vote - they're done. Kaput.
Others claim a 15 - 20% detection would be enough to undo 'em.

Recent polling Strongly indicates The Don is approaching or has attained those levels of support.
That would NOT be reflected on the irrelevant graph as the latest info given is for 2016.

Also, the graph pertains only to Blacks.
The Don does better among other minorities - Notably Hispanics.

The Don's more favorably viewed by Blacks (and likely most minorities) than any 'Publican Prez/Prez candidate since Eisenhower.
Claiming this is NOT a significant shift in a crucial 'Crat base is ridiculous.

'Crats dismiss their own base(s) at their peril.

The Governor was considering an Independent Prez run in '16 using ballot access via the Libertarian Party.
Had he prevailed, he'd have been the 1st non-party affiliated Prez since Washington.
I agree with his views which align with those of Gabbard, Kwiatkowski & Butler ...

I could've pulled the lever for a Ventura/Kwiatkowski Ticket.

The Governor indicated he'd offer the Veep position to former Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney ...

... and I'd have been good to go with her also.

I'm picking up on that IRL.
Some very ardent Bernie Bros from '16 still like him but given his age (turning 80 the year he'd be inaugurated) they grudgingly admit that his future is in his past.

Should he pull of the nomination, MUCH would depend on his Veep pick.
Voters could be persuaded to vote the future - for '24 & '28, one might say.

I've been a bit surprised that Gabbard hasn't done better.
Could be that Gabbard backers also like The Bern & envision Tulsi to be the Veep lead-in to '24,
It makes sense.
Even if the ticket lost, Gabbard will have gotten exposure & recognition for the future.

I find it difficult NOT imaging her as Prez at some time.

New Hampshire's Primary is not "closed" - i.e. one needn't be a member of a party to vote in its primary.
'Publicans KNOW that The Don's their nominee. So there's reason to suspect that some of them "crossed over" to the 'Crat Primary to vote for The Bern believing (as you said) that he has no chance of beating The Don.

It's widely thought that 'Crats did that in '16, believing The Don would be a walkover straw candidate for Hildy on her way to fulfilling her Manifest Destiny to become 1st woman Prez.
Sometimes that tactic backfires. Obviously.

If crossover voting occurred, it might bode ill for The Bern.
His victory wasn't overwhelming in a state neighboring his & his support among 'Crats mayn't be as broad as it appears.

BTW -
Crossover 'Crats may blame themselves for The Don being Prez & their self-loathing predisposed 'em to Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS).
I'm quite certain i know of at least one such case personally - the poor devil

The odds makers give her about a 4% chance of getting the nomination, but she's moved up from about 2% & has overtaken Sleepy Joe, Hildy & Pocahontas in that order. She's 3rd behind The Bern & Buttage.
