@BadlyDrawn - ahh, it's your tax-dollars, could be used to something better, huh ? Just for the sake of a bonfire, I thought you have seen enough forests burn up. Pyromaniac
@JimNastics - thanks. I just try to chip in how I see this from my perspective. Was it a year ago?- an American family came on visit. Had a tour in Europe. When ever they came into some conversations, they used the excuse that they were Canadian. They were surprised. Got out of the Gulf during Desert storm, it was different then. For me it is simple, I like peace and friendly faces.
This is one of several worries we have regarding the President prior to any recent question about impeachment - why do everyone believe it is about dems vs. reps ????
The question is about National security, about military alliances, about war and peace. Statemanship is something very different then tweeting on twitter.
Not a Clinton fan, and I have no idea - but checking wikipedia: "The Clinton Foundation is a public organization to which anyone may donate. Due to their similar names, the public foundation has sometimes been confused with the Clinton Family Foundation..."
Being public, I suppose they do. If you had asked about "Donald J. Trump Foundation" - then there seems to be page upon page of interesting stuff
yes, to all of you - but you had me look around a bit -
Trump seem to push for anything or anyone depending on how much money they donate. So, he is reversing previous regulations. Of many sources, I include this
Not sure, I think 'crashing into' could be descriptive. I don't know the number of walls, doors, buses, trashcans, or the like I have crashed into just because of some girls giving me a smile. Then unfortunately a huge laugh.
I woke up in distress this morning, and I wrote the blog while I tried to shake off the dream. I tried to rescue a toddler held hostage in Ukraine, and tried to inform the police, etc.
We had a Christmas dinner with the family and just before I went to bed, I read the headline of some news about this story. There was some messages in that dream and it was not difficult to search for some of the contents. Sometimes we don't see what is in front of us, sometimes our rational mind create more obstacles then clarity. You know what I mean to say.
This morning it was quite funny to listen to something Trump explained, as it was so obvious he was saying the opposite of what he was concerned about.
Reading much of the entries here, seem to tell how little people know about government. And in fact, I may include myself, because I just an ordinary person that has not been into politics or government.
Times have changed when it comes to what technology can do for us today, but let me use S/S Titanic as an example. The captain on-board could not "run" the ship. It was a large teamwork, and his role was to oversee the activity according to the 'mission plan'. Everyone have heard of "mutiny" in which a captain is releaved of his duties. There are examples of those that turn out to be unfit, those that has lost their mind, and those that abort the 'mission plan and directives', and also those that split and divide the crew on-board in ways that cause harm and hazards.
Evidence support that failures by the captain, is the reason that the ship is resting at the bottom of the sea.
The President has a similar role, he is not the one to decide the 'mission plan or directives' - it's not his role. He has a whole crew on-board to run the ship. We all have this tendency to misunderstand the whole operation.
With out technology today, a single individual could probably sail a ship like Titanic, however this is not how government operates. And it is by design and intention.
To take some examples from what people have written.
1. His job was to ensure that 'mission and directives' regarding support of Ukraine was executed. 2. His crew, that is ambassadors and people within the governments is supposed to handle these things.
But he bypass the whole system and procedures, he aborts the mission, inserts some passengers to handle the ship, etc. There is no question regarding what took place, and it would be equal to a captain that suddenly figure out he wants to steal the whole ship and set course for a different destination. You cannot do that!
Had this been S/S Titanic, the captain would have been arrested and would have to spend the rest of his days in jail.
But we are fooled into believing that the President is a sort of demi-god that is above the law, that doesn't have directives to follow, in fact - we all are misleading ourselves as to how a ship like S/S Titanic function. Perhaps because we assume that if you have a steering wheel, you may actually be able to control such a vessel ? We could add the laws and regulations that govern the sea.
I will send Rudi, he is a capable man ! ;)
The rest of the world is astonished by such child play, and are deeply concerned, as no government can play games like that. They expect adults who know how to behave, and somneone they can trust.
The congress has been behaving somewhat silly, in their attempts to explain and clarify the issues. But many representatives jump on the bandwagon of silly conduct - perhaps because they know their audience.
Anyway, we know what happen to S/S Titanic and we don't want that to happen. Btw. if you do some fact checking about the issues that this President say is "so good", you might be surprised.
There was this Englishman looking out the window, saying - "I ordered ice for my drink, but this is ridiculous!"
Agree, Jim - it really wasn't much of a platform for a political campaign, and in fact most of us would probably face legal consequences if we behaved like he did ? I sure did not view anyone doing that, fit for office.
Thank you, Palmfrond - but I have been a citizen all my life. In fact it would cost me more than $2500 last I heard, to waive citizenship. :) - you cannot leave without pay.
Right, , I may understand that. It's just I am caught up in it somehow. Followed the congress hearings, etc. The positive thing I may say, is that he has avoided military conflict. In my youth, there were riots with protesters throwing stones as the US Embassy. If I wasn't careful, they would have stoned me too. And my worry was to end my days in Vietnam. Enough.
What could I say about Norway ?
People don't live with the pressure and worries about health-care or education. It's free. And I guess we have the highest number of Tesla per capita. I do worry some about the climate activist and their politics, as they can be extreme as well. But lets face it - there is alarming signs of changes. They say pollution, but who knows - perhaps it could relate to the increase in electromagnetic radiation caused by all those tweets ? :)
What could I say about Norway ?
I guess we have more women in politics. And what may surprise some, is that it's okay. From my youth, I recall a lot of resentment and outrage towards women driving a car. It may hurt my macho-ego to admit that they do well. They are less prone to serious accidents, despite their hormone-instabilities. Perhaps they haven't studied the male hormones to close ?
Here you have paternal leave, if you get kids. It was controversial for awhile, but I don't believe anyone wants to change it. Even those with 10-thumbs seem to enjoy it after they get use to it.
The great worry that has been discussed, is that boys fall behind in school. Girls are doing well, and you find women in all areas today. I believe there are more women with university degrees then men today, but I could be wrong.
Women have changed. They claim their space in another way, they act much more like their male counterpart in many aspects. There are more demands of kindergarten, pre-school, etc. So children is also changing. Not sure what this will come to mean, but..? So, right now there are mothers who start higher education, because they can.
Anyway, all this could happen in United States as well. It is just politics. And if you want a change, I believe electing a woman for President, would be a good start. There is something strange about women, and you can see it all over the world - they are able to make a sort of home. Their priorities are a bit different then that of men.
So, if we have a future, then I believe it has to be organized a bit different then in our past. What to do, how to do it, is the great question. And with over half of the populace being women, perhaps - and to be honest guys, a future without women is unlikely, so perhaps there isn't a way around it.
Well, maybe I say these things because I am more or less homeless, no woman, and plenty of of cry ;)
What could you do with 240 billion $
