RE: Locked in

I would like to be with Kevin Costner.
He has a playful character about him when he wants to let it all go and have fun.
He also has beautiful eyes that I want to look deep into my soul.
He has a soft voice and a sincere tone when he means what he says.
He is tall and his long arms would feel good wrapping them around me.
Besides being a good actor he is intelligent, kind and has a charming smile.
And if none of the above happened, I would just like to talk to him.

RE: Cranberry Sauce

I had cataract surgery in both eyes in October. (I wrote a thread about it.) Usually it's an easy surgery and people do well with it but both of my eyes have a pinguecula in them. I didn't know this until after the surgery. My daughter can see it but she said she never saw it before the surgery so I'm very concerned.

With the left eye the pinguecula was far enough from the cataract that the surgeon could cut the cataract out without a problem but with the right eye it was very close to the incision and now it's not healing as expected. Plus I have dry eye which is a problem because my normal tears don't moisten the implanted lens so now I have to use Refresh Gel Eye Drops several times a day. If it doesn't get better I might have to go back to the medicated eye drops I used after the surgery.

I still need glasses but can't order new ones until I'm sure my eyes have healed enough to get the best vision I can get. I shouldn't be dealing with all this but because of the pinguecula it's holding me back from getting new glasses. Thank you for asking.

This link will tell you what a pinguecula is. Next time you get your eyes examined ask your optician if you have one in each eye.

RE: Cranberry Sauce

I apologize Oobs. My eyes aren't doing well since the eye surgery. I do prefer your recipe with less sugar

RE: Hot Rods and Motorcycles

That reminds me of my husband's Ford Fairlane that was a hardtop convertible.

Isn't this cool .....

RE: Hot Rods and Motorcycles

I might have the wrong year for the Cougar. I remember my boyfriend bought it for me around 1980 but it wasn't new. That interior is nothing like what I had. Mine had the shift on the wheel and I don't remember if it had bucket seats.

RE: Hot Rods and Motorcycles

I could parallel park it easier than my Ford Fushion that I have now.

RE: Hot Rods and Motorcycles

I had one of these in this color 1972 Mercury Cougar. People called it a boat cause it was so long. It lasted for about 200,000 miles.

RE: Cranberry Sauce

I love cranberry sauce. I usually buy the can of jellied cranberry sauce but this past week I got lucky when I bought a turkey breast and saw next to it fresh cranberry sauce.

The problem with cranberry sauce is that it has a lot of sugar in it. Yours has a cup of sugar whereas Bearwoman's has a half cup of sugar.

I like it with turkey for dinner
I like it in a turkey sandwich with stuffing
I like it with chicken cooked in any form

RE: Will your problems leave you too if you fall in love with them?

We don't fall in love with our problems, we get used to them, we adjust to them and eventually they become a part of our everyday existence when we don't have a way of changing them.

You had to go back to 2003 for a Patriot win doh

Consider this ....

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The New England Patriots’ quest for a record seventh Super Bowl championship ended abruptly Saturday night at Gillette Stadium with a 20-13 upset loss to the Tennessee Titans in the wild-card round of the N.F.L. playoffs. The defeat for the defending Super Bowl champions was a startling setback at home, where New England has won 20 out of 24 postseason games over the last two decades.

The defeat may signal the beginning of the end for the celebrated Patriots partnership between Coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady, a combination that has made the team America’s foremost sports dynasty of this century.

If it was Brady’s last game, the final play of his career will have been a pick-six from his own 1-yard line on a night that belonged to Tennessee’s Derrick Henry, who ran for 182 yards and one touchdown.

Bye Bye Brady wave very happy

RE: Which would you… prefer to date?

I didn't complain that men aren't traditional anymore. Nowhere did I say that.
What I said is that times have changed. It's not the man or woman's fault that traditional "dating" is still practiced. The standards of society change all by themselves.

What I did say is that the word "dating" has a different meaning now than it did 50 years ago especially for older people.

There are a few CS members under the ago of 30 who might understand what it was like when I dated. I don't think people over 50 see themselves going through the ritual of what dating means which I explained earlier.

Don't try to turn it around and say that I went off subject when you yourself in your last sentence said "I'm happy to return to the subject now".

I'm not going to argue with you Lee, in fact this could have been a good discussion but you went on your feminism rant again and now I've lost interest. I thought I would give you a chance to be civil to a female.

In today's world people are asked............Are you seeing anyone.

They aren't asked .............. Are you dating anyone.

RE: Which would you… prefer to date?

Look who isn't staying with the subject of the thread..........the OP.

The subject of the thread is what category does a man or woman fit in when a man or woman is looking for someone to have a relationship with.

Instead of giving your opinion about my post you went off on your usual rant about how women have destroyed men.

I should have known better than to give you the courtesy of my opinion on the subject.

RE: Which would you… prefer to date?

I want to point something out Lee that others might agree with me.

The word "dating" doesn't fit into today's world. When I was meeting men dating meant something different than it does now. A man might take me to dinner, or a movie or both. He might want to take me out for drinks. We might go dancing and then to a diner (NJ) for breakfast. There was a ritual to dating. I don't think it's like that now.

What I've gathered from posters is that there isn't a ritual anymore. Most of the time it seems like a hookup comes first. Men around my age group remember when they went to a girl's parent's home to take the girl out on a date. They had the dreaded small talk with the parents.

When the girl became a woman and had her own apartment the guy still went to her home to pick her up.

Now it is necessary to meet in a public place where there are a lot of people for safety reasons.

Even if two people keep seeing each other on a longterm basis it's not "dating" like it was back in the day. Back then the word dating had a cozy feeling to it.

"Dating" doesn't have the same meaning it had in the 50's and 60's. You can continue to use the word because it is your thread. However, I can think of at least 5 men on here who have said something negative about the word "dating". In fact, my guess is that if they knew they had to go through the ritual again they went through in their younger days they might prefer to be alone.

RE: Which would you… prefer to date?

I might fit into a couple categories.

Single with no children is one and that's because I don't want to deal with child support. However, anyone I would date his children would be over 18 so it's unlikely that child support would be a problem. Ya never know. The guy who was part of the team in The Odd Couple had a child in his senior years.

Defenitely NOT separated. Separated is still married.

Widowed possibly but only if he is past his grieving.

Since I am way into my senior years I would probably do better with a middle aged stud giggle who isn't looking for marriage or thinks he is going to get my money. Someone who isn't looking for a mommy to bring him his slippers but I will cook his dinner.

I've spent many years catering to men because I wanted to, not because it was expected of me, except it was expected from my husband back in the 1960's.

I gave you ammunition to call me selfish and greedy.

I don't have any interest in dating again Lee. Been there, done that many times.

Why didn't you play this one?

RE: everything anyone has is given to them.

No, my traits weren't given to me. I learned how to type.

I learned how to debate. I learned how to cook.

All things were done by my effort.

On the other hand, I usually don't back down when in a debate giggle That is a trait.

I spend too much money on food, that is my trait.......Shhhhhhhhhh don't tell anybody.

I don't trust anyone, that is my trait.

Those kinds of things aren't given. They are learned from experience.

RE: everything anyone has is given to them.

I cut my neighbors grass yesterday and he gave me $20.

Did he give me $20 or did I earn it, consequently he handed me $20?
