I'm on an open top bus in the sunny English Lake District.

RE: Wanna have a deep conversation ...?

No, I feel the soul exists, it's our pure self.

But in Buddhist teachings, the self, along with the soul doesn't exist. .

RE: Wanna have a deep conversation ...?

There is no such thing as a soul according to Buddhist teachings

RE: Wanna have a deep conversation ...?

In Buddhism the soul doesn't exist. This is where I struggle with Buddhist teachings.

RE: Do you ''fully'' know yourself

To 'fully' know yourself suggests fully understanding yourself.

I suspect Jung would say, that's certainly a tall order.

RE: Forgive & Forget - Can You?

Hi jono, there are some people who just lead by example and give us a measure of where we ought to be.

It is isn't it.

I was watching a programme about him last night, that quote was mentioned.
But I know from my own experience, forgiveness allows you to move on, whereas to bear a grudge keeps you locked in a form of suffering.
Once you become fully aware of this, forgiveness happens naturally most of the time.

RE: Forgive & Forget - Can You?

"The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong."

Mahatma Gandhi,

RE: Forgive & Forget - Can You?

Sorry but I didn't make that connection till you mentioned it.

Not that it should matter, the quote is still as valid.

RE: Forgive & Forget - Can You?

Of course you can forgive without forgetting.
In fact many acts of forgiveness come from the most unforgettable experiences.
To forgive is to be set free.

"As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn't leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I'd still be in prison."

Nelson Mandela

Did Mandela forget about his many years in prison?

I think not.

RE: Say Anything

I'm not surprised the USA women's team.does so well.

Back in 2001 I spent a season at a summer camp in Connecticut teaching climbing.
Near the end of camp two football (soccer) matches were organised.
The first was male International staff v male USA staff. We beat the USA staff 11-0.

The next day it was the turn of the women...

The USA women beat the International women 11-0

RE: From Soft Natured to Fighting Fit...

Many people can see straight through the 'playing the victim' strategy.
Furthermore, after a while it gets predictable and tedious.

RE: Was Jesus a Socialist ?

"The Jews didn't kill Jesus at all. The Catholic Church killed Jesus and has spent the last two thousand years dragging his entrails through the dirt and if he came back tomorrow, he'd be the first to say so.
You know it's true....we all do."

Pat Condell

RE: Was Jesus a Socialist ?

A bit like a Buddhist Monk I suspect.
He would definitely been influenced by the Buddhist teachings which had spread over that area at the time.
