Only in parts of Yorkshire. I mean if you're in Huddersfield and ask somebody for directions to Slaithwaite, they will probably laugh and say, "you mean Slawit don't you?."
It was with you saying you thought you were in the north of England. I thought maybe you were imagining hearing the doctors saying something like, "ee bar gum, ooer Tommy's not se well tha knows."
I make no oppologies for the double link after finding this by The White Stripes. How could I not have come across this amazing cover before. Dolly Parton said it's one of her favourite covers of the song. Jack White sings this song with so much feeling and emotion, it makes you think this is how it was always meant to be sung...heartwrenching.
Most are wearing masks but plenty aren't. I've yet to see anyone confronted for not wearing one and I know the bus drivers have been told not to insist even though it's a legal requirement., they just want to avoid any trouble I guess.
There are countless Floyd songs I could think of posting, but this one really takes me back. I can remember exactly where I was when I first heard it in 67, it blew me away, I'd never heard anything like it before and I instantly became a Floyd fan.
Haha excellent, I've not seen or heard that before. I saw the Orb many yeas back, not really a live band to be honest. The track reminds me of one of their best known tracks.....Little Fluffy Clouds.
One of my favourite bands from the late sixties. The Nice were fronted by Keith Emerson who went on to form Emerson Lake and Palmer (ELP. ) Emerson, an accomplished keyboard player was known for his outrageous performances on his Hammond Organ. Sadly he took his own life in 2016....
"The song has been featured in several films, most notably the 1996 films Bottle Rocket and Sleepers. It appeared at the close of the 2009 British comedy movie Bunny and the Bull, playing as the lead character finally breaks free of his obsessions. Alone Again Or was also featured in the climactic parade scene ending the last episode of season one of the 2019 Netflix series Russian Doll."
From the 1967 classic album, Forever Changes, acclaimed in high places...
"Veteran LOVE frontman ARTHUR LEE was honoured at the HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT yesterday evening (June 17), amid bizarre scenes that saw a string of MPs queuing up to pay homage.
Lee had been the subject of an Early Day Motion put forward by a number of Labour MPs which declared Love’s 1967 folk/psychedelic opus ‘Forever Changes’ “the greatest album of all time”. He was invited to Parliament to have the Motion officially noted by those who had put it forward. He arrived at the House to be met by Labour MP Peter Bradley who had the proposed the motion. A clearly bemused Lee – wearing dark glasses, a bright red cowboy shirt and distinctive bandana with cowboy hat on top – was given a brief tour, before he was taken to the terrace bar to be met by other Members".
