There's quite a difference between a Buddhist nun and a Christian nun. One believes in a higher power, a deity, the other dismisses that out of hand. It took me quite sometime to understand what she meant, but it runs along similar lines to your observation about sound waves and no human ear around to decipher them.
I had a call on the phone from them just a couple of weeks ago asking me to call in at their Manchester centre. Needless to say I politely declined their invitation.
I remember asking a Buddhist nun about the tree in the forest many years ago. She answered with a wry smile, "no, because the forest doesn't exist." It gave me food for thought.
That's right, some of my family emigrated to Australia in the fifties for £10 with the assisted passage scheme. That would work out about £160 in today's money.
"Other 'hot spots' in the world for tornadoes The UK - Although the USA, on average, sees more severe tornadoes and the most tornadoes of any country in the world, it may be a surprise to know the country that receives the most tornadoes in the world by total area is England."
Many talk about the weather in England, it's always raining. This is partly true, but most people don't know it's also the tornado capital of the world. Yes, England has more tornadoes per square mile than any country in the world.
"Most infant/juvenile animals drink milk (from their mother), it’s because they carry an enzyme lactase to digest those milk sugars. As they grow, the gene that generates this enzyme turns off post weaning, and after that they can no longer drink that milk. In fact, humans were similarly not meant to drink milk into adulthood, but due to the evolution of our species and our habit of breeding animals for dairy products, we have adjusted to the habit of drinking milk well into adulthood. That being said, not all humans can drink milk because many are lactose intolerant. People with a lactose intolerance cannot produce the enzyme lactase, which is needed to break down milk sugars. When such people try to drink milk, they suffer from diarrhea or other nasty symptoms."
I must admit, the song always reminded me of Mary Poppins and Chim Chim Cher-ee....
"The jury rejected Page and Plant's argument that they would not have been familiar with Taurus, saying they had "access" to it.
However, they found evidence from musicologists more convincing. Experts who testified said the descending musical pattern shared by both songs had been a common musical device for centuries. One example cited was Chim Chim Cher-ee, from the 1964 Disney musical Mary Poppins."
The Edgar Broughton Band....Evening Over Rooftops.
A very poignant song from a band that's always had a huge cult following. They were formed in 68 and played till 2010 but Edgar carries on. In fact he played at my friends house not too long ago for his 60th birthday. What night that was!!!
Maybe, that and the long hair, bright flared trousers and a hint of patchouli oil.....
We did get off lighty though, they were going to throw us in Quebec prison for 28 days, but B.O. A. C. stepped in and offered to fund our return flight back to the UK. Then they spent the next two years chasing us for the fare. They never got it of course.
We made the mistake of flying to Montreal instead of our destination, Toronto because it was much cheaper. Our plan was to travel onwards to Toronto by bus but we soon found out that long haired hippys were not welcome in Montreal. Anyway, after spending five days under armed guard in and around Montreal airport they sent us packing. Mind you, my friend setting fire to the airport toilets as a protest didn't help matters. They couldn't wait to get rid of us.
RE: SCIENTOLOGY - For the Rich & Vulnerable?
I'd rather stay ignorant, thank you very much.
