I live on a island off Canada's east coast called Newfoundland. Traditionally a fishing province, though a few technical firsts happened here such as receiving the first ever wireless message from Europe and fiber optics was invented here.

Anyhow I'll shut up and show you the goods conversing

Don't forget a Newfoundland doctor invented insulin, the airport in Stephenville is able to accommodate the landing of the space shuttle. We were a British colony until Joey Smallwood and 1949, then we joined Canada. We are picturesque, friendly have have our own time zone.
Our Water Street is the oldest street in North America and we have the biggest little street in the world.......George Street! Come on over for a pub crawl, if you dare.

As the story goes, when the first people arrived here, they said the cod fish was so plentiful that you could lower baskets from the ship and scoop them up.

Looks beautiful there but I think it gets a bit too cool there for my liking and no eskimo women to keep a guy warm at night either I hear.

Newfoundland has a sweetheart of a dog. Gentile and fun to be with. Despite the size they don't need a lot of room to run around like a Jack Russell does. They are from the St. Bernard family of dogs.

They used to be used as rescue dogs. When someone was lost in the woods, they would get the dog to get the persons scent from say a piece of clothing and the dog would search and find them. Often, they would put a small container of brandy on the dog's neck so when they found the missing person, the idea at the time was a shot of brandy to warm the blood (so they believed at the time).

Canada is still one of the countries I would love to visit. Some far relatives of me live there, but I don't know them. Not even their names.
But I bet the nature is beautyful overthere.
I think also the nature of the USA is great, but I don't like the mentality of American people.

There are 4 of Newfoundland dogs living in the next village to me. Such fabulous dogs and actually quite gentle. I love to see them romping on the beach.

They say the only bad thing about a Newfoundland dog is that you have to follow them with a mop constantly as they are droolers but they are well tampered dogs, low energy, easy to look after.

That is true about the drooling. We had a Newfoundland and there was always a towel within arm's reach so that we could wipe the long drool from his mouth.

Example ...
